Hi John
Greetings from Atlanta, Georgia! I have been home 3 days and miss ya'll terribly :( As I was reading through your blog I noticed that there are donkey rides to the top of Rhodes. Wow! I feel like I missed so many things by having to take the "Easy " tours. Please make suggestions that more of the tours have a closer look at the various sights by way of donkeys. I wanted so desperately to "get up close and personal" to the Parthnon - it had been my top priority, but unfortunately with the tremendous heat and bad knees, I had to settle for a postcard at the bottom of the hill to be able to see what it looked like. What about bycicles or scooters - heck even rickshaws - some way so us older folk don't feel like we missed half of our vacation.

Miss you badly,
Diane Merrill

Hello John,

We were just on the May 1-13, 2007 sailing, European Cruise, aboard Carnival Freedom. Just wanted to commend the stress-free and most organized disembarking process we've ever seen. This was our 5th cruise and none would ever give the assurance and hassle-free disembarking that your crew did. We are so pleased!!!

Question for you: I saw the itinerary for another European Cruise which we are interested in. This one covers Italy, Turkey, and Greece (covering Rhodes, Greece, instead of Marmaris, Turkey). There seems to be an overnite in Civitavechhia on Day 12; so, will disembarking take place on Day 13? You see, we did not see Rome in this last cruise, so perhaps we could have on- shore excursion in Rome, if Day 12 is an overnite stay? Am I interpreting the itenrary correctly? We really want to see the Vatican, St Peter's Square, which we missed in this May 07 cruise. We are not seasoned cruisers yet, and we did not want to spend any more money staying in a hotel, either pre-cruise or post-cruise.

Can you adivse? Thanks in advance for any help you could give. By the way, I am Canadian, my husband and I reside in Mississauga, Ontario, a western suburb of Toronto. Our roots are Filipinos, and we have just found the love of cruising, but don't know a lot yet on organizing our shore excursions, to make the most of it.

Sincerely,
Aurora

John,

WeatherGuy's review on CruiseCritic is odd in more ways than one.

Here's his webshots album of his Carnival Freedom cruise;
http://travel.webshots.com/album/556751650LkUDXL

What's really odd is the album creation and last edit times are PRIOR to his cruise;

created: Mon, Jan 1, 2007
last edited: Sun, Feb 18, 2007

And the photos in his album are of a different ship;

<a href="http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2662547200100084109KFZPrk" rel="nofollow"></a>

and photos of him on a different ship;

<a href="http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2798105640100084109TTyKrR" rel="nofollow"></a>

He does mention a few areas that are specific to Carnival Freedom, but given that he seems to have pulled parts of the review out of thin air, it stands to reason he'd use some elements of fact eh?

I've never posted a review on that section of Cruise Critic because I don't follow the soup recipe format very well. Perhaps he attempted to follow the format and instead of soup he made poop instead? ;D

Heidi,

Work on getting John to make Cruise Critic's VIP cruise on March 22, 2008 a 'co-blogger' cruise.

Allow me if you will to welcome Heidi back and send her a cyber-hug. We'll talk young lady next time we get to see you and let you know what John has been up to in your absence. The Blog is doing great my friend and I have seen a number of names here that are familiar! Have great times and enjoy the area. I hope that you have availed yourself to all those fantastic shore excursions that are available there. I know that you have checked out some personally with Heidi and a certain lady-friend of mine. Explaining to your followers just how fantastic these ports are would be really nice. Take care my friend and best to you both.

Hey John,

Bob and I will be seeing you in a couple of days now. We are so excited!!!! I have a few questions for you. 1) Do we have a formal night on the first night? 2) Should we bring Euros with us, or will be able to change our money(American) on the ship? 3) We are from Western N.Y. (Buffalo, to be exact) Do you know of any others from our area that are traveling on the same trip? Your blog is just hysterical. You have a real talent for expressive writing. I especially enjoyed the Sheik stories .
See you Soon,
Cindy Bruce
