John, I am perplexed! We were on the “Willie Banger” cruise, which was so hilarious! Now it seems that Willie was an event on more than one cruise. True?! Of all the cruises I have been on, the only cruise directors I remember are Simon Pendergast and you! You do continue to be the best, however! Thanks for the memories. Lila

Hi John,
I have a question about luggage tags for the 9/22 cruise critic cruise. We were told to print out our VIP luggage tags on line. I did that but I don’t see how paper tags will last and still be on our luggage when we get to Europe. Is there any way I could get the original VIP luggage tags that we always use. Otherwise I am going to have to get these paper ones laminated etc. so they won’t get destroyed.

I too remember that foggy night in Newfoundland; I felt like a celebrity with all the locals driving by to see the ship. I remember hearing voices and sounds from the cliffs before we could actually see anything. It was like New Year’s Eve with all the horn blowing and noise.

I think you were inquiring about my cabin number on Fantasy – that is my next cruise? So far it is still TBA with 30 days to go. I currently have 7 cruises scheduled on Carnival so need to start getting some of them out of the way so I can plan some more!

I can’t wait to go on the Carnival Freedom and I’ve heard that you’re one of the best cruise director. I will be on the cruise leaving on Oct. 16, 2007 for my honeymoon. It would be nice to to have a romantic dinner in the Sun King Supper Club. Would you please reserve a table for two for us?

I am uncertain how to respond today.

First, you tell me that you will designate me the Official in place of the Cruise Director Chaperone for the mature single get together – this gracious act after also naming me the Official Assistant Evaluator of the Dancers for the Transatlantic Cruise.

Then, later on, you advise the Mrs. that I should have to suffer the anguish of her purchasing a purse in Rome to go with her new shoes.

And I thought you liked me.

Hi John, Glad to hear those people were rescued, are you called on all emergencies regardless of what the nature of them is? We had an emergency on our Elation ship cruise last November, where a young woman had to be airlifted by helicopter (she went into diabetic shock)! We watched it all unfold from our balcony room, it is amazing how they lifted her in one of those buckets to the helicopter to transport her to a hospital. So, about Mrs. Barnsby, what was her daughter thinking to allow her to travel alone, what if she got off in port somewhere and did not return to the ship, and forget where she was supposed to be? I feel sorry for Mrs. Barnsby, and fault her daughter in all that is happening, you unfortunately are the one that has to “deal” with it all! WOW! You have so much responsibility in your job! Congrats on reaching 500,000 hits! That comes to 100,000 hits a month since March! So, you like pistachio’s and sugar free jelly beans! OK, I will definitely bring you some in November! I can’t wait till we get our blogger T shirts, and thanks for arranging for the larger sizes too! Hope you and Heidi have a wonderful weekend! Your friends, Linda & Mike (the bulb man)!

It is such a pleasure to hear from Shawn. She was a social host on the first cruise my husband and I took for our honeymoon. I remember she was doing a scavenger hunt at the Lido pool one afternoon, and one of the things she asked for was a floating device. I ran to the stage and pointed to my chest (after all, they help me float). She laughed and gave me credit for my “find”. She couldn’t argue that they help with floating.

We were then thrilled to have her as the CD on one of our Caribbean cruises not longer after the Spirit first started sailing. She was the first CD we ever had that did a Q&A session and really wasn’t afraid to answer any question. She was very candid and honest which we really appreciated. It was the first place we were able to learn about life onboard a ship. John, this blog thingy takes that to a whole new level which we love.

Finally, we had the pleasure of having Shawn as our CD last fall on a Hawaiian cruise on the Spirit. Again, she really helped make that cruise an incredible experience. On a cruise like that where we had so many days at sea, the onboard entertainment is more important than ever. She did not disappoint. We had a ball and can’t wait to do the Hawaiian Island cruise again. Hopefully, Shawn will still be around when we decide to schedule it.

She told us she learned from the best…John…which we have no doubt about.

Thanks for the guest CDs. It’s a nice addition to the blog.
