I enjoyed your writing about Cruise Director Steve Cassel. We just came back from a 5 cruise to Mexico on board the Holiday. Steve is the most remarkable man I have ever meet. He his also the single most talented person I have seen perform, he is a great comedian, plays the fiddle and violin like a dream, and top it off with the most exciting juggling act I have ever seen. You've heard of a one man band well that's Steve, is there anything he can't do? I could have spent the entire cruise in the Americana Lounge watching him perform. I am planning my return trip very soon just to see him and the rest of the quality staff of the Holiday. The ship older and smaller but the staff makes up for it in a really big way!

Larry & I live in Ventura County in southern California (that's where Oxnard is located) and I work in Oxnard, not so very far from McAuliffe School. I especially liked Mark Anaya's drawing of a genuine 24-carat gold plastic ship-on-a-stick!Right next to Oxnard is Port Hueneme -- I think that's the only deep port between Los Angeles and San Francisco on the California coast. Wouldn't it be wonderful if one of Carnival's ships (during a repositioning or something) could dock there for a day (A couple of cruise ships have made stops there before, but not Carnival, I don't believe)....what a treat it would be for those children to visit a Carnival ship!It is very nice of you to have sent something special for each of the children. What a wonderful ambassador for Carnival Cruise Lines you and Heidi are!Terri & Larry

John, thanks for sharing all 15 of the children’s letters. I loved the pictures of the sunset in Greece. Those were absolutely magnificent.
O.K. I pulled in my driveway yesterday and there is a box against my garage door. I approcached the box with much anticipation. It was from the Victory Store! Since I had to pick up cold water and get my grandson from day care to football practice, I gently placed the box in my car. As soon as I got to his day care center, I had to open the box. I was sooooo excited. It was the blog thingy tee shirts. When I got back to the house, hubby was there. I showed him the shirts and he was really pleased! They were definately worth the wait.
John, I was truly touched by the letters from the children. Since I am in education, it was touching to see the comments from the individual students as well as your response to them. I am sure they will all be pleased with their recognition.
Thanks for keeping the blog thingy going!

Good Morning John and Heidi!<br

In the news we hear and read too much about young "thugs" and not enough about children such as these 15 who are working hard and the teachers who are guiding them to achieve their best.Your Turkish bath experience made me howl with laughter - - not at your pain, but at your very descriptive way of telling about it. Ouch! I'm going to treat myself to a hot stone massage in the spa during the TA. I hope your spa personnel didn't take lessons in Turkey!See you in 75 days.Sue

John,

Thank you for sharing the wonderful letters and pictures from 15 of the smartest children in the world. At the risk of being a Carnival shill, the view of a live volcano at night from the ship is something I will never forget.I must say that is the happiest turtle in the photo that I've ever seen. Someones having fun with Photoshop.... either that or the photo is of the rare laughing sea turtle ;) .Nothing much new on the family front.

Hi John,

8 days and counting (you did say to let you know when my cruise was about a week away… wink wink).

I started a list of things I’ve seen and would like to recently, and one that I hadn’t thought of was one of the most awe inspiring sights I’ve ever seen. John, BTBTBTB That’s what it would be for all us bloggers if we did the CARNIVAL SPLENDOR BLOGGERS CRUISE on January 24, 2009 and the around South America 3 part cruise. YES that is the date for the 2009 Bloggers Cruise. The list has been on my site since April. BOY! a 2 month Bloggers Cruise. Just think 2 months of ” HARDY & HARDY” we would be the talk of the cruise world. HOLLYWOOD here we come, ROTFLMAO. Now all I got to do is figure how to pay for it and get back home from Calif., train I guess.FYI: Mrs. “BIG” ED said you and I have created a monster and the words BACK TO BACK have crossed her lips. (she just smiled when I read this comment to her)

How special. I am sure you made their year by doing that.I really enjoyed the interview with Steve Cassell. He was the last CD we had when we cruised out of Galveston. He definitely is a unique character and a joy to be around. As far as the Greek comments, I noticed the same thing when i was there with my family 10-15 years ago. Seems like not much has changed. Its a real shame though that they treat some peole this way. Not everyone is perfect, but its not fair for everyone to be "lumped in together".Have a good one!
