[First part written earlier by John] . . . Good Afternoon from Napoli ….it feels like I have said that a lot this last few months but anyway……here we are again and the start of another wonderful Carnival Freedom vacation. It has been a busy but oh so enjoyable day and I, as always, would like to take you along for the ride.Let’s start with this morning where we sent 2100 people on tour, the most ever this season and that included 700 plus to Capri. The first morning is always very confusing with guests not totally understanding what is happening, where they are supposed to be and sometimes who with………….by that I mean ………”where is my wife”………..”have you seen my family”……….”Is this where we meet”………. “what tour am I on”……………..”do I need my tickets”……………”what do you mean I need a Sail and Sign Card to get off the vessel”…………”do you speak Russian”………….”Who am I”…………..etc, etc.

All of the above is understandable as it can be a little confusing the first time and, as much as I explain in my talk, over the PA system and in the Carnival Capers, there are always a few people who do not know what to do.

One thing is for certain. The ship was designed to put so many people through its lounges for tour distribution. The lounges are entertainment spaces and no matter how organized we are (and we are) there are always going to be lines when you move that amount of people at the same time. Today, was no exception and yes, there were lines, but I still think we could do better……I will not be happy until I discover a better system.

I wanted to let you know that some people are a little ……ummmmmmm confused, some do like a good moan and then there are those who are just plain nasty……….now that is not a word you have ever heard me use in this blog before but this applies to the guest, who when asked by a dancer to put on their life jacket, she was treated to “what are you, the Gestapo”………no further words are necessary.

We are still in Naples awaiting 400 people who were supposed to be back from their tours but due to a landslide on the road to Sorrento they will not be back until 6:30pm……….30 minutes late. I am now making sure we keep the dining room informed so anyone on the early sitting dinners will be able to go straight to dinner if they want to or, of course, our dining options on Lido Deck.

The guests have just arrived 45 minutes late back to the ship and off we go, sailing to Dubrovnik.

Anyway, back to today in Naples and I will tell you what Heidi and I did a little later.

So, as you saw from the press release that I was sent by PA 007, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall will be dedicating the Queen Victoria……………this now has me thinking about the Carnival Splendor and her Godmother. I started this blog thingy wishing that Angelina Jolie would fulfill that role but as the days and weeks went on this became more and more unlikely. So, that now that leaves me with Catherine Zeta Jones as first choice………………..hold on a moment……….who I am kidding……..it is not like it is my choice…………in fact it isn’t………….at all………….but maybe……….just maybe I, sorry, we can influence my friends in Miami to consider her for this role. My quest will start in earnest in the weeks to come…………..I hope I have your support.

I have seen lots of bloggers this cruise wearing the bloggers t-shirts, which is great to see…….although a little strange in the fact that it makes me feel a little inadequate and I hope I live up to their expectations.

The KZST Radio group seems a lot of fun and they certainly were enjoying all the bars and lounges last night…..especially the Disco where we played lots of their kind of music…….70′s and rock and roll etc. The group leader asked if I would come to their private party tomorrow which I of course will do………I hope they don’t ask me to dance.

I hate dancing. I am rubbish. I look like a drunk flamingo as I faff around hopping on one leg to another. Many years ago when Roger Blum and I worked together on the Carnival Sensation we used to have lots of Quincinera….Quincinyera………Quincinears…….anyway, 15-year-old young ladies from Latin America and Cuba who were celebrating their coming of age with a cruise along with their whole family…………..when I came of age I had a pint of Bitter and a Pork Pie but that’s another story.

Anyway, the girls look stunning in their gorgeous wedding style dresses and the ceremony that took place in the main lounge was wonderful and oozed tradition. The final part of the ceremony would involve the daughters dancing with their fathers to the Blue Danube Waltz by Strauss. Then, Roger and I would go on stage and propose a toast to all the young ladies and then it was time for the 30 minute disco party……….and that was me and Roger hiding in the bar pantry behind cases of Heineken as the young ladies and, worse still, the mothers looked for that handsome man in uniform and the Cruise Director to dance with………we still laugh about that today……………I should have danced since, if there is one worse dancer than me………..it’s Roger.

Here are some photos for you which Heidi took two nights ago as we sailed from Livorno……….it’s a beautiful Tuscan sunset and one of the Carnival Freedom.

it’s a beautiful Tuscan sunset

it’s a beautiful Tuscan sunset

it’s a beautiful Tuscan sunset

Here is a photo of me and some of the dancers from 1992, Christmas in Cozumel……………what the heck is that shirt!

Here is a photo of me and some of the dancers from 1992, Christmas in Cozumel……………what the heck is that shirt!

Here are the letters for today’s In Their Own Words Section:

In Their Own Words

In Their Own Words

In Their Own Words

I am very excited that tomorrow I will be able to promote the ON DECK FOR THE CURE walk. I have decided to hold this on the second sea day at 4:00pm. We will take a group photo on deck before the walk itself………..we have 400 shirts to give for a $10 donation and if people want to donate more, they can…………I know I will.

Lets do some Q and A.

LAUREN – Nobody……………nobody………….needs to see me in a dress…………….it ain’t pretty.
MR.VANQUISH – I am not certain as to why the insurance company would be trying to work out whose fault it is that your Aston Martin is now well and truly knackered. I had a nightmare about that last night and I hope that things get resolved quickly so you can consider buying yourself another example of Beauty, Passion and Soul. Please keep me informed mate and hang in there mate.

Well, that didn’t last long did it? Time has escaped me and now I am off to the Welcome Aboard Show, see you tomorrow.

Good morning. It’s 8:18am and I thought I would sit and use my two fingers to continue the Q and A before my Morning Show at 9:30am. I feel very tired this morning and I have ignored the urge to have a coffee so I am having tea instead and just made myself a big mug (LA Lakers …………..don’t tell anyone at the Miami Heat organization) that I am drinking from this………hold on………am I an idiot?……….yes is the answer…..like Shaq and the boys are reading the blog and are now mad because I am drinking from a Lakers Mug!……………can you tell I am tired……..I am waffling today.

Come on John, snap out of it and get back to the Q and A.

Just in case you are reading…………Hello Shaq, stay injury free this season, use the pick and roll more and win that trophy again.

John

Yes

You need help

I know

I need someone to slap me

Thank you, Heidi.

KATHIE – More beautiful words Kathie. Thank you for recognizing your travel agent Jeannie Castro (I wonder if she is any relation to Roberto?). I will certainly make sure that her boss gets to see your words of praise and I am sure she will be thrilled. Carnival Cruise Lines is where it is today thanks to the hard work and dedication of thousands and thousands of people who devote themselves to making sure that people like you and millions of others have the best vacation ever.
Thank you Kathie for mentioning just one of them and you will be happy to know that my computer is behaving so far and following my threat to spank it with a large stick I expect it to stay that way. I am glad you are still laughing at and enjoying the blog so much and thank you again for such kind words.
KAZ – OK, here we go. For those who read KAZ’s posting you will obviously notice she knows a little about me and that’s because she is a stalker! Just kidding, actually we have never met but I used to ummmmm……….well……….lets just say her sister Helen and I were friends…………….you know ……………we…………kissed once which, for me was a huge achievement. Anyway Kaz, please tell Helen I still love Jethro Tull and as for the other incidents I have deleted those from my memory banks. My Mum and Dad send their best to all of you and if Helen would like another trombone lesson I will be happy to oblige.
Now, lets chat about your WORLD CRUISE ON THE QUEEN VICTORIA. Did you see that the Duchess of Cornwall will be the Godmother? You must be so excited about this cruise of a lifetime and I was wondering which portion you are looking forward to the most, is there one country you are most excited about seeing?
Please keep writing and tell Helen I will be round for tea. Oh, I thought you might like to see this photo of the Queen Victoria returning to the shipyard after her successful sea trials.
Please keep writing and tell Helen I will be round for tea. Oh, I thought you might like to see this photo of the Queen Victoria returning to the shipyard after her successful sea trials.
A CRUISE BY ANY OTHER NAME – Thank you for the great link thingy for Ephesus and you are correct that it is well written and gave me some new facts that I can use. I am sorry to hear that you have canceled your cruise but I understand the reasons and following your trip Down Under I hope we will see you on the next Bloggers Cruise. I have been trying to get Heidi to go to Australia but with her fear of spiders I am sure that is never going to happen. As for Fatima and her pipes………I don’t know where they come from. I just know where they are never going………..again.
It was great to see a posting from you and I hope that you continue to read the blog thingy.
CATHERINE EBERT – My fall from grace on the pier in Livorno bruised my ego more than anything. I am constantly warning the guests about the danger of the raised rails on the pier so what a complete prat (good English word for idiot) I looked when I tripped over………….at least I provided some pierside entertainment while the guests were waiting for the shuttle buses.
I never saw the man who dropped his phone overboard again but he really was heartbroken that it contained the last photo he had taken of his beloved dog and best friend. I am glad that you are excited about sailing on the Carnival Splendor and Russia, as you mentioned, will be a highlight. Later in the year I will start slapping on some port information which I hope will help.
Thanks for your posting and my best to you and your husband.
MRS MISSINGTHESMOKEFREEPARADISE – What are the RED ARROWS, I hear you ask? Well, this is in reference to the naming ceremony of the Queen Victoria in England on December 10th. The Red Arrows are the world’s foremost jet aerobatic team and part of the British Royal Air Force. They are often to be found at Royal events and their display is flabbergasting. The garden program you are referring to is called Ground Force and the brass band music is played the Black Dyke Mills Band who are part of a big mining corporation in the UK and probably the most famous brass band in the UK along with Chelmsford Citadel. Anyway, my dad still plays his cornet but I sadly have not picked up a trombone in years…. I really miss it but my neighbours do not. Thanks for the hug and one big one right back at you.
BOB MEANS – hello Bob and I am so happy that you continue to enjoy the blog thingy. What a lift your posting gave me and I appreciate that during your words of congratulations you also mention Heidi, Roberto and PA 007. These three people are pivotal in the blog’s success so thanks again for those rewarding words. The blog is getting bigger every day and I wish I could write more every day but I still have a job to do here and that of course is the most important thing. So far, I am managing both and I hope I will be able to continue to do so. Anyway, must go as I am off to my travel talk but not before I say thanks again mate and we all wish you and your family well.

OK, AS MENTIONED I AM OFF TO THE TRAVEL TALK TO CHAT ABOUT DUBROVNIK (YIPEEEEEEE NO TENDERS), VENICE AND MESSINA AND MOST IMPORTANTLY TO LAUNCH……………THE ON THE DECK FOR A CURE WALK………….BACK SOON.

Here I am back again and lots to tell but first the Q and A continues.

BIG ED – I thought we were friends and then I see you slap on a photo of me in a dress. Right, the gloves are off and I am determined that on the Bloggers Cruise, somehow I will have you in one too!…………when I say have you I mean that you will be wearing one not that I want to have ……anyway, watch out :) …………can I borrow one of Mrs Big Ed’s dresses?
I loved your photos of the holiday home. Alan asked me if you rent it out and if he can join you ……….he likes a bit of camping does Alan. I am sure Wendy’s will miss you and it won’t be long to January and you in that dress.
GREG AND CINDY COURINGTON – When you arrive onboard just go to the Chic Dining Room and see Dino the Maitre D between 2:00pm and 4:00pm and he will assist you with your dining room change. Now, as for a restaurant recommendation in Venice, it depends if you want a traditional trattoria or something a bit more up market. If money is not an object then you have to try Harry’s Bar. The place is full of tradition and the menu, although ultra expensive, is exquisite………they recently changed the Risotto recipe but it wasn’t as good, and a famous food critic had them change it back……..it is extraodinary.
If you are looking for something a bit cheaper, I suggest Il Piscatore a small pizzeria and fish restaurant which I know you will love. So, the choice is yours and wherever you decide to eat, I know you will have a wonderful time in Venice. Please let me know if I can help further.
LTTNSFCF – It’s Heidi here………It is now 7:20pm and as the Captain’s Cocktail Parties are going on, the guests are having lovely drinks and hors d’oeuvres, are dancing, having dinner and getting ready for the show…… my husband is in bed.
He is sick and let me put it this way, I have done a lot of cleaning in the last few hours……and I will leave it at that.

So, I saw he only just started the Q & A and didn’t get very far yet.

Most of you who have cruised before know what a busy day the first day at sea / formal night is for all of us.

There are 13 pages of comments on the desk and I am afraid they have to wait until Sir is better.

I thought I would just tell you about the highlight of my day………..

We (Carnival Cruise Lines) participate together with Costa Cruises, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises and The Yachts of Seabourn in something called “On Deck For The Cure.”

On Deck for the Cure

Today, myself and other Entertainment Staff Members gave the guests the opportunity to donate to this wonderful cause.

It didn’t take long before all the boxes with t-shirts and wristbands were empty. I spoke to a few guests who told me they were breast cancer survivors and to some guests who had a sister, mother or other family member with breast cancer. I was thinking about my Auntie Aartje, a breast cancer survivor. How strong she was and what she had to go through.

There were a few tears from guests and a lot of smiles but all had the same thought, what a great opportunity it was to join in and walk on the deck together for this great cause. What a better place to do this, at sea on a beautiful ship like the Carnival Freedom on her way to Messina, Italy.

Heidi at the Desk for On Deck for the Cure

I suppose as a good wife, I need to get away from the desk now and look after my husband and make sure that the festivities along the Promenade Deck are going well.

He feels so bad that he can’t write to you and I told him to stop moaning…….this is one of the very very few times that he has ever been sick on the ship and wasn’t able to do his job. I really need to go, I am so sorry…but he needs me.

We’ll be back soon.

Your friends,

John & Heidi

    Heidi,

Please offer John my wishes for a speedy recovery. Did he not remember to wash his hands before eating?? (Just kidding, of course!!!) I hope he’ll be back on his feet and his jovial self in short order.

I’m very glad to see the ‘On Deck for the Cure’ becoming such a success. I lost my mom to breast cancer many years ago. It is a terrible disease and hopefully we cruisers can do a small part in realizing a cure.

Please tell John that he can stop urging Shaq on. My San Antonio Spurs are going to repeat, no doubt. I suggest he start cheering for Timmy, Tony and Manu. His efforts will be well spent.

Thanks for stepping in for John. Your additions to the blog are always appreciated!

Pass along my greetings to Roberto!

    Regards,

    Greg

    Heidi,

What a wonderful wife you are, cleaning up after a sick husband, being so attentive and even doing his job. I hope John feels better soon. Was it too many jelly beans? Whatever it is, I hope it’s not the dreaded Nor virus and that you don’t catch it. You two work way two hard. I have been enjoying the blog for a while now, posted a couple of times but my posts never showed up. I had the pleasure of enjoying John as CD on the Liberty in 2/2006. I am contemplating the blogger’s cruise, but will probably opt for a later one as Jan. 07 isn’t going to work out for me. I enjoy your pictures very much, especially the sunsets and will look forward to seeing a picture of the “twins”, John and Big Ed, in their dresses on the bloggers cruise.

    Take Care,
    Julie Gantt

  3. Peanuts says:

    Good Afternoon John and Heidi,

So sorry to hear you are not feeling well John. Hope you make a speedy recovery. I feel your pain and it is not pleasant. drink (if you can) lots of fluids and get plenty of rest.

Heidi, it is sooooooo good to hear of another one who hates spiders. I am so glad to hear I am not the only one who will do just about anything to avoid them. They serve no good purpose other than to creep me out. I know if there is a spider on the ceiling in a room I’m in he/she is plotting how and when it can jump on me. Paranoid YES.

I have Heidi’s mug and a couple of goodies for you two. I would like your sizes for Tshirts and if you like just email them to me instead of posting on the Q&A portion of the Blog that would be great. I think I will bring the mug with me so it doesn’t get broke in the mail.

The first Piston pre-season game for me (season tickets holder) is with the heat on October 8. John I’ll tell Shaq you said Hi! ;D

Take care and feel better soon

    Joan

  4. "BIG" ED says:

HEIDI, Hope John gets better soon or at least gets better with his aim so you got less to clean up. I’ve been trying to put something together for the “On Deck For The Cure” for the BLOGGERS CRUISE. I’m trying to get it set up were the Bloggers prior to the BC can collect pledges from their friends and family to turn in on the BC. The one with the most pledges wins a Ship on a Stick or something. But as of now legal is having a problem with it for some reason. I will keep you informed.

  5. "BIG" ED says:

TO ALL BLOGGERS GOING ON BLOGGER CRUISE,

Are you officially registered as a BLOGGER for the BLOGGERS CRUISE. Have you filled out the form under “BLOGGERS CRUISE” near the top on the right just below “SEARCH”. You must fill it out to be an OFFICIAL BLOGGER. You don’t want to be on the outside looking in. Read more about this on my blog just click on my name at the top of this comment.

    “BIG” ED

  6. No need to reply to this, just wanted to pop in and say, “HI!”

John, hope you’re feeling better soon. It’s not fun being sick. Hope it’s not “BEV.” :-(

Heidi, you need to start your own blog…! :-D ) Great pictures. You have a knack with the camera… What wonderful news about breast cancer support. That just warms my heart. Each effort puts us one step closer to a cure, and most of all, prevention!

    Hugs to you both!

  7. Canuck Cruiser says:

    Hey Heidi,
Sorry to hear that the big guy is down…………..bad case of the green apple two step? Hope he’s been washing his hands……
Great job filling in while he is absent.
Last post from me as we are almost out the door heading to Detroit to catch our flight to Fort Lauderdale tomorrow on the way to the LIBERTY!
You can count on us to participate in the “On Deck for the Cure”. I usually walk a lot on board and this will also give us a chance to donate to a more than worthy cause.
I hope John is not TOO ill and will bounce back like the trooper he is.
BTW………..if John ever gets around to writing his book of his years at sea with Carnival………….don’t forget to get a complete section for your photos.
I love the sunset shots and the pictures while you guys are in port. You have a real talent for this and should continue to contribute to the blog.

Has anyone heard how Barb’s doing? Please keep us posted. Southern Dreams…………keep smiling and I’m sure you’ll be on board another cruise soon.

Off we go …………………….smooth sailing everyone!

    B&D from Canada

  8. Dave And Barb says:

    Oh Heidi,
Thank you so much for keeping us posted on our much loved Cruise Director and friend. I just knew that something must be wrong as it had been a few days since we have heard from John. I hope that he is not sick for long and will be back to his old self soon. I hate to ask but is it the dreaded disease that all cruisers fear? Sounds like you have had the nasty task of cleaning up after a sick man. Not a good job but I’m sure done with a lot of love and worry. Being an ex nurse I can’t help but offer the obvious be sure to keep him hydrated, treat symptoms such as fever, and watch his blood sugar. We know that he has some trouble with sugar levels.

Heidi, the pictures that you are providing on this blog are gorgous! I love the red sunset pictures the best and can’t wait to see them for myself.

Thanks again for keeping us posted ant tell John to get well soon. Also be sure to keep yourself well. When caring for a sick loved one we tend to forget ourselves. We certainly don’t want you to get sick too.

    See you soon,
    Barbara

  9. Longin2cruise says:

Heidi, Thanks so much for letting us know about John being sick. I know you have lots of extra work to do, not only taking care of John, but keeping up with all the ship activities. Tell John we’re thinking about him & wish him a speedy recovery. By the way, I love your pictures!

  10. MAT & VIKKI TILL says:

Mr. Vanquish, after reading your trials and tribulations I, and Vikki’s boss, an Attorney licensed in N.Y., have one suggestion, SUE! They were negligent moving your car, and grossly negligent driving through the parking garage at speeds fast enough that at impact, would crack a frame. Let me repeat myself, SUE! Any disclaimer typically isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. Have them pay for your new Vanquish. Have them pay for your suffering having to deal w/your insurance company. Have them pay the balance remaining on what’s left of your car. SUE.

Oh yeah, as an aside, I’m told your rent-a-car is supposed to be comperable to what you were driving. In case you were sleeping, SUE!

  11. DWA76 says:

    Hello John/Heidi Partnership!
I hope John starts feeling better soon. I am thinking of him. Please send him my well wishes.

Lovely pictures that you took of the sunset. Seeing that brings back such memories about why I love sea-days so much.

Wonderful news about the cancer walk. I am so happy that this turned out to be such a great success.

Thank you for another great blog. Be careful Heidi. Wouldn’t want you to get sick either…
    David

  12. Mark Twain and a Half says:

    Heidi,
You are indeed a very good wife – cleaning up after a sick person is no fun. When I was in the Philippines I caught a norovirus and I was pretty embarassed about the state of the toilet the poor hotel housekeeper had to clean up.
Congratulations on having such a successful Walk For the Cure! I know you will keep the ship in good running order until John gets back on his feet. And thanks so much for the pictures you take. They are just beautiful – they really make my dreary cubicle at work muck easier to bear.

    John,
As I wrote to Heidi above, I have recently experienced your troubles. I totally comiserate with you, and wish you a speedy recovery.

Don’t even think about blogging until you are 100% well, or I will find Mrs. Knee-Hi and buy her a ticket for another cruise and tell her she won you as her personal valet for the whole trip!

Just kidding – I wouldn’t do that to even my worst enemy. Get lots of rest and get well soon!

  13. A Cruise by any other name says:

Thanks for the good wishes. We are completely looking forward to a trip down under. To do it with mates and not a tour company or on our own just seems like the perfect vacation. I also made contact with a family an old boss and I took on a tour of my hometown and he absolutely wants to reciprocate. It will be fun planning.

Yes Heidi, in a recent email and photo there are lots of spiders where he lives. But remember most spiders are quite beneficial and keep other nasty insects in check.

We still plan on touring the Med, but will just move it out another year to 2010. Who knows what ship or which company, but I know based on your blog that we will want to go in the fall with less children and for cooler temperatures.

In closing, I managed to read your blog from beginning to today’s entry. From the man who “moved to the music while in a wheelchair” to the lost cell phone with the dog photo, to Mah Jong, to your vittles (southern term) with Alan on your 48 hour jaunt home. It was all good and fun and I plan to continue to follow along.

Should our paths ever cross, I will ask you to repeat what you said by shouting out “TEXAN”.

    Cheers,

  14. Kathie says:

Heidi! John sick? It’s Thursday! Keep well and wish him the best, it is beyond me that you both don’t stay sick with the work you do!

  15. Ebb Tide says:

Heidi, thanks for sharing more beautiful red sunset photos. I look forward to seeing more when we sail on the Carnival Freedom on Sept. 22nd. Hi John! I hope you’re feeling better. Thanks for your nice response to my first comment on your blog. That was very kind of you. My husband and I will be on board the Carnival Freedom soon and we are so excited. This will be our 3rd cruise w/ Carnival. We will be cruising with a favorite cousin and hubby. They celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary last June but the big celebration will be on board this Sept. My husband and I were the matron of honor and best man during their wedding. We wanted to make this cruise special for them, so I am telling you in advance. Do they get to be recognized by you? Hope to meet you soon.

  16. adias.angel says:

    John,
Listen to Heidi please and stay in bed to rest. The wife always knows best trust me ;)

Can’t wait to see pictures from your first Walk for the Cure. Carla ;)

  17. Ruth Jamison says:

    Greetins to John and Heidi!
John, I hope by the time this reaches you, you will be feeling better! It is difficult when you are sick and you just keep thinking about all the things you need to do!
Heidi, I can also sympathize with you. Men do not make good patients at all. That is something everyone knows!!!
Hopefully things will be better soon. I must admit, I was getting concerned when the September 11 blog stayed up for a while. I had the feeling something was wrong.
Take care of yourselves and an additional comment to Heidi- Your sunset photographs are absolutely incredible. You should get them printed on poster size paper and sell them.

  18. nanette says:

Hola Heidi!! John, please take care!!! Behave, rest and get better soon ok?
A big huggo for both el enfermito y la enfermera :)

  19. Ivana says:

Poor John! I hope you will get better soon! We miss you and we understand that you need some time in bed.
Thank you, Heidi, for stepping in and letting us know. I was beginning to worry, you know, three days without new blog posting (see how spoiled we are? :o )))))

  20. Msqpon - Jo Myerly says:

Hi Heidi and John, I thought something was wrong. My comment of two days ago wasn’t posted. There is something wrong with the webcam too. Please John stay in bed until you are well again. Heidi take care of yourself. We all want you both well.

    Jo and Dave

  21. Lisa and Elaine says:

    Heidi,
I thought something wasn’t right when there was a new post in a few days…please tell Sir we hope he is feeling better soon…chicken soup is the cure for all ills!
Your pictures are wonderful…more, please, more.
    Elaine

  22. Kevin says:

    John,
Well New York is whats called a No fault state as far as the insurance is concerned, everyone involved is at fault somehow, even if your car is parked and your on the other side of the world if something happens your still at fault. NY has some strange laws. But the update is I’m only 10% at fault for this accident, and yes John there will still be a chance at getting another example of Beauty, Passion and Soul. But it might be Italian, more to come on that. Lets just say the company’s name starts with a Bu#(@i. You can fill in the blanks. But if you ever get a chance test drive one. Also please get better soon, drink plenty of fluids and be sure to keep washing your hands.

    Heidi,
Make sure he drinks plenty of fluids and pop on a fawlty towers dvd for him to watch or listen too. That should help him feel better, and take care of yourself we can’t have both of you sick. Great photos as always. Best wishes to you both.

    Kevin

  23. oh my, i am so sorry to hear of this illness!! poor john and heidi honey i sure hope you don’t get it from him, this being thursday and all, just sayin’…

Heidi, I commented earlier then the one about the Bloggers Cruise but somebody didn’t like it so I will try again leaving out what they must not of liked.

Tell John to get well soon. He has got to take care of himself and take better aim at his target. Also tell him if the two of us get in dresses the whole audience will make us their target.

Mrs. BIG ED is mad at John AGAIN she wants to know what he meant when he asked “can I borrow one of Mrs. Big Ed’s dresses?” in the above Q & A. I just saw her doing a search for “MASSAGES BY FATIMA”. I think she is filling out a gift certificate form for January 22, 2008 as I type.

I hope this one is better?

    John -

Seems to me every time you admit to drinking tea, you end up with “issues” that are better left undiscussed.

Perhaps you should change to another form of beverage :)

Get well soon, big (but not as big as before) guy – 44 days and counting.

    ——-

Now, as to the contention that the Red Arrows are the world’s foremost aero-acrobatic team, say hello to the US Navy’s BLUE ANGELS.

While in the Navy, I was stationed at Annapolis (AKA, the United States Naval Academy) as, believe it or not, an athletic trainer – greatest duty in the world.

We had the Blue Angels show up for an exhibition flight – we Corpsman went up onto the roof of Dahlgren Hall to watch. Laying there watching these jets streak about 500 feet or less above us was undescribeable.

You can have your Red Arrows. I will take my Blue Angels any day. We will both be happy.

    Jon

    Hedi,
Thanks for letting us know about John. I will include him in my prayers, and also you. Esecially you. You are taking care of a sick man plus doing his job and your job, plus doing this blog thingy. Don’t let yourself get run down or you will catch it!

And John, you would be very proud of Hedi as she is doing a wonderful job in your place. In fact, she might just get promoted…so if I was you, I would get well as soon as possible.
    We miss you John!

  28. Inez says:

Heidi, Thanks so much for letting us know about John being sick. John, please get plenty of rest and get well soon!! We’re thinking about you.
Heidi the photos are absolutely incredible! Maybe you’re in the wrong line of business; you should, without a doubt, be a photographer. Breathtaking pictures.
I am so anticipating the “On Deck for the Cure” walk becoming a success story. As a Breast Cancer survivor it means the world to me, personally, that Carnival is doing what it can for this terrible disease and hopes of finding a cure.
Thank you for another great blog.
Please take care of yourself along with John.

Bonnie and Barb-My prayers and good wishes to you both.

    Inez & Dean

Oh, John! It’s just as I feared. You are ill. I knew you’d never leave us for so long unless there were dire circumstances. I am soooo sorry that you are under the weather. Please rest and eat chicken soup and be a good patient. I know Heidi will take very good care of you and you will soon be just as good as new!

Best wishes for a quick recovery (and to Heidi, your sainthood is being called upon again, eh?).

    Myra

Good evening Mr. Heald and especially Heidi. I hope Mr. Heald gets well soon but as always when a man gets down, his wife is there to take his place. I’ve realized very soon in my life that my wife was the most important person in my life. Heidi, I don’t know how you are able to take such fantastic photos of the many sunsets that you have taken. They are breathtaking. By the way Mr. Heald, if wish to have anyone back you regarding Catherine Zeta Jones as the Splendor’s godmother, I’ll back you on that one. I loved your last comment Heidi, “but he needs me ” . Mr. Heald is a very lucky man to have a wife like you. Ciao to the both of you get well soon.

  31. Sorry to hear John is under the weather. A good dose of prunes and Fatima should make him right as rain.

I have too many pictures from the Caverns and Caves shore excursion in Progreso:

Hi John and Heidi! Hope you’re feeling better John. I’m sure Heidi is taking excellent care of you! I knew there had to be a good reason when there was no blog.

I enjoyed reading the letter from Mary Cramlet, making you an honorary Buckeye. The buckeye nut is said to bestow good luck on anyone that carries one, so maybe that will speed your recovery. Some people just consider them a hairless nut, but that’s another story…I myself am proud to be an alumni of The Ohio State University. There’s also a candy that’s made from peanut butter and chocolate that’s called a buckeye. Good stuff!

Congrats on your interview with John Cleese! Judging from the pictures, it was something you’ll always remember.

Take care and Go Bucks! As always, my best to you both.

  33. Oh dear oh dear oh dear.
I was wondering what comments would be made about Blue Angels and Red Arrows, with or without Thunderbirds. Mr. can just about tell you what something is from the engine sound. I just think they are all pretty, and I have to say, I would want to be on the uppermost deck during the flyover, just lying around waiting for that split second.
How about this question: What is the contribution that is made to defray the cost of jet fuel, et al?

  34. vicki says:

Heidi- beautiful pics ! Have you ever seen “the green flash ?”

Hope John is feeling better now !

  35. Barb Hannah says:

Thanks for keeping the blog thingy going Heidi!! I love reading the blog, and was concerned when there was nothing yesterday. I understand from a previous blog that John will be on the Freedom Jan 12,2008 preparing for the Bloggers Cruise. Will John be the CD? He keeps talking Aston Martin but–We are a group of 125 CORVETTE owners, family and friends. We would love the chance to meet him and discuss our beloved Corvettes!! We will be holding a Corvette Hot Wheels Car Show and races onboard (Just as we did on the Pride in Jan 2007–just 96 of us on that cruise).
Thank you Heidi for sharing John with us bloggers!! Hope to see you in Jan.
    Barb “Hot Wheels” Hannah

  36. Peggy says:

Hope John is feeling well soon. We all know who is the weaker sex when it comes to being sick.

John, I know it is not the same, but wasn’t that you in the Carnival Legend Inagural wearing a Kilt? More people than you remember have seen your knees.

    Heidi, I love your pic’s!!!!

Cannot wait for the next cruise in 38 days.

  37. Bunnyette says:
