Day One Complete!

January 20, 2008 -

John Heald

Hi Bloggers – Stephanie and Roberto here.

Day one has been completed. It’s definitely been an exciting day. It’s amazing to finally match some of the faces to the names we’ve been seeing for the past few months.

John will have a post ready in the morning, but we thought we’d give you a sneak peak from the welcome aboard party.

    Hello John,

I am a former Senior Entertainment Technician (and in the old days, I was a light and sound technician ;) ) I enjoy reading your blog every now and again. It reminds me of the things on ships that I loved, and more importantly, it reminds me of the things on ships I DIDN’T love, and thus reminds me to be thankful every day for what I have.

Anyway, I was wondering if you might be able to do me a favor this cruise. I know it’s your blogger’s cruise, and I think that’s great. It’ll be neat to have everyone together! However, my mother and aunt are cruising with you right now as a celebration of their 60th birthday (they’re twins). I’m wondering if you might be able to wish them a happy birthday from “the kids.” My mother’s and aunt’s names are Cathy Lakin and Anne Poulton. Bev, Chris, Stu and Jess (the kids) would love to wish them a happy birthday. I think it would be very special if you might be able to mention something, maybe on your morning show, or at a cocktail (if you haven’t had them already.) Their birthday is on January 22.

I know you probably have a million requests like this, but it would mean A LOT to me if you might be able to mention something. After all, I never did get a pin (even though I worked for Carnival for 5 years!), so I think this would be the next best thing!!!

    Thank you for your time,
    Jessica Rose

Great to have you home again John, you look fantastic in the photo Roberto provided, so relaxed and ready to go, go, go! Can’t wait to hear more today. Till later……………. Linda

    John:
I just checked out Nanette’s website, she has been talking to Elaine and Big Ed from the bloggers cruise, and she says the next bloggers cruise will be out of New Orleans on the Fantasy. I am saddened to hear that as Nanette, myself and Paul P. will not be able to go, I will not fly so for me to drive 12 hrs. to New Orleans to catch a cruise is out of the question. What happened to the plan of the Inspiration for the next bloggers cruise? Why not that one, or the Imagination, both refurbed ships. I have been on the Fantasy and it is one of the smaller class ships, so I guess I will not be seeing you next year after all. I am very sad and disappointed. PLEASE reconsider! Also, word out is you might be retiring after that, is that true? I hope not, all of us will miss you so very much! I feel so sad right now, please see what you can do about the next bloggers cruise, don’t just settle on the Fantasy out of New Orleans! What a bummer! Linda & Mike

Bon Voyage (and NO REPLY REQUIRED)

All the best for a wonderful cruise. Although we can’t be there, we frigid Canadians will be reading to soak up some of the warmth.

    Happy sailing.

  12. Hi All!
We are having a terrfic time (as usual) on the Freedom. John is the host with the most, so, what more could anyone want. A lot of us are doing daily blogs from the ship. I uploaded photos last night (talk about eating Internet time! LOL) . Big Ed is just a doll. It’s such a pleasure to finally put faces with the names. Wish all of you could be here!!

    Best,
    Anita

  15. KirstenL says:

    Fantastic Roberto and Beautiful Stephanie,

The first of the photos!! WONDERFUL!!! Now we see how great John is when he’s “on.” He’s in his elements!!!

Don’t forget in further installments, to turn the camera around and show us the fun you’re having, too! Wish everyone the best cruise of their lives!!

    Regards,
    Kirsten

  16. I was just wondering if those of you who have websites, and are posting from the bloger’s cruise could post your link or just the address???
I don’t know the addresses. I read the blog all the time but don’t coment as much as I read.
    Would love more pictures!!

  17. kathy,

Easy solution – sign up for the repo cruise from Italy to Dover. There is also a 3 day in-between cruise. That’s what I did!

I want to know what’s up with the Jun 30, 2008 “sailing” ?!?!?! It pops up as available when you fill out your funpass for one of the other sailings.

  18. Teresa C. says:

    Roberto,
Thanks for all the updates and hard-work.

John, great to see you back on stage. Keep us posted on all the days events. I’m certain you’ll makes us feel as though we are there.

  19. dwa76 says:

    Great pictures!
Thanks for thinking of us who can’t be with you guys on this voyage!

  20. Julie Gantt says:

    Wow,

I am so missing all of you! I live in Appleton, Wisconsin which is between Oshkosh and Green Bay. It was 17 degrees below zero Sunday morning with a wind chill of 32 degrees below. To make the day worse the Green Bay Packers lost the play off football game and will not be going to the Super Bowl. I’d trade this weather for the warm sea breezes any day. Enjoy everyone!

    Take Care,

    Julie Gantt
