(Bet you can't guess who I root for).Truth be told, I did buy the misguided child a 2007 World Series Champions hat for Christmas and I will attend a Red Sox game and root for them - as long as they are not playing my beloved Yankees.BTW - the next time someone complains about the cold and it is 74 degrees out, maybe you should suggest a St. Lawrence Seaway cruise in January :)Jon

John -

I am so pleased to see that Heidi has much more taste in baseball teams than you do.

GO YANKEES!!! I just had mine on the 17th and am officially an OLD BAG!74 degrees sounds great! The mad conductor should have been here for our 17 below real temp and wind chill of 32 below. We had six to eight inches of snow yesterday. When a woman talks about six to eight inches, she usually isn't referring to snow either, but talking about you and Big Ed.Poor papa smurf. I'm too poor to own any stock but the news even caught my attention this morning when the NY stock exchange opened and immediately fell 450 points. Actually, I worried about my rich x-husband and hoped the news wouldn't affect my alimony. After all, that's my cruise taking money! (and boy did I earn it!)Don't let a couple of jerks ruin your day. Eat some jelly beans, wash them down with that diet root beer, point your finger back at them and tell them to..........pull it!love,

What a nice surprise to find your blog ! I've had a lot of laughs today reading here. You you bring back a flood of memories.
Being a former nurse on several ships in the fleet, I can sympathize with being the object of anger from passengers over things we had no control of- like the weather. How many times I bit my tongue while being yelled out for various maladies that were the result of their own overindulgence in food, drink, or sun. But, I learned early on not to judge all the passengers by the chronic complainer's. My therapy was to go up and see how many more were having fun with the cruise staff - goofy games and all. I've even been guilty of some line dancing with them at deck parties myself.
I left to be ashore with my family, but I do miss the friends I made in my years at sea. As a result of living the surreal ship life, I have friends all over the world and wouldn't trade anything for that gift. It was such a growing time as I had my mind expanded learning about the world from the perspective of non-Americans. So many fond memories..
Keep up the fun blogs. I wish you and Heidi calm seas and sunny days, and some occasional coneless peace together.

I love how people hold you accountable when the rain works against you. What a joke.
Welcome back! I guess you were sorely missed.
The bloggers still love you and that's all that matters!
Cheer up!

Oh, and heaven help anyone who gets on your case in the presence of one of your loyal crew. I can see it now...Papa Smurf surrounded by Big Ed and the gang, all wearing their "I love John's thingy" (I mean "Blog thingy") t-shirts. Talk about a menacing gang. Papa might think the pirates have commandeered the ship! Hey, you should wear a special whistle that only bloggers can hear and blow it when some creep accosts you.Sure hope the weather has improved. Although, for me, bad weather would just be a good excuse to stay on board and play trivial pursuit, win, lose or draw, etc. Scott and I usually win (or come close) so we enjoy the games. Plus, look at all the money saved by staying on board! Are you having a special birthday party with all the bloggers as guests? If not, you should!Enjoying 70 something degrees in Clermont, FL,Myra

Happy birthday, John!

When the turkeys get you down, just head for the sunshine room…that would be wherever the maximum number of bloggers happen to be hanging out at the moment.
