It was honestly the best vacation I have ever had and we look forward to our next one. Until that time I plan to keep current on this blog! The dressing room is just as I remember it from Legends in January. Keep up the great work and we look forward to sailing with you again! As a side note, how does one go about being employed by the cruise line? Is it a start at entry level and then put in for what you really want to do? I loved Mouna (sp) Karoake hostess on Freedom, and just being there made me interested in learning more about becoming a part of the Carnival Family as one because I love to travel and love to Karoake. May only turn out to be a passing fancy, but hey, everyone can dream!Deanna

I had my first cruise on the last and first bloggers cruise. We had such a wonderful time and it was actually our second sailing with you. You were the cruise director on our last Carnival cruise - the Western Caribbean on the Triumph in November 0f 2000. I think it was that cruise and not an earlier one. Thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining. A similar thing with Donna and Larry was done with another couple - I think from the Chicago area but I may be mistaken - makes for so much fun and they are such good sports about it. As well as Dick and Anita Little. Such fun. And great sports. How do you follow that?Nothing negative at all about the cruise with possibly one exception. I'm not too much of a fish eater and about the only choices on Friday that I'd care for were the salmon. While I like salmon, twice in a day is a bit much. Being Catholic, meat choices on the menu were out. It might be nice to have more choices during Lent for Catholics like myself. Our daughter passed away suddenly in January 2005 and I had a mini meltdown during the lifeboat muster thinking of our first cruise in 1993 when we gave her a cruise for a college graduation present and we took one for our 25th wedding anniversary at the same time. We've taken other cruises since that one but none since she'd passed away. Memories flooded back as I recalled 15 years ago passing her ship going to the Western Caribbean and ours going to the Eastern. Hooting, hollering, waving. I'm sure people thought I was insane, standing there in the life jacket sobbing... And of course a topic of discussion among people you spend a casual meal with is 'do you have any children?' - haven't quite figured out a painless way to respond to that. I really hadn't anticipated that before. I wonder why not? Unavoidable to be sure. But we had such a wonderful time and I hope to talk my husband into the northern Europe cruise on the newest ship but not totally sure when that may be. We'll be building a home in Maine at some time this year and there's so much to do in order to accomplish that. But it sounds like an ideal cruise and would love to do that.Keep up the entertaining, both on Carnival ships and off. You're amazing. Thanks very much for making our cruise enjoyable.Pat and Joe Dempsey

Hi John — I wanted to pass along some comments, having just returned from the 2/9 sailing of the Freedom. We cruise on her at the end of August, and I wondered if you could possibly find out when her screen is due to be put in. I will be thrilled if it's in time for our cruise. Thanks and all the best to you and Heidi in your "stick" endeavours.

I was so excited to hear the Triumph is eventually going to get a big screen theater also. There are tours all over the island, to see from high vantage points, Drake's Seat, Mountaintop, others I don't remember the names of. It's really a very pretty island. There's also Coral World and Atlantis submarine excursions. Or how about a leisurely lunch in town - there are great restaurants with great views. OK, now I sound like a travel agent - but I love St. Thomas.Tortola also has some pretty scenery - not as much, but high mountains. St. Maarten would give you the experience of a French island on one side and a Dutch island on the other.I haven't been to the Dominican Republic or some of the other islands, but there's a lot of history there. Or how about a local zoo?OK, I'll stop.Goodnight all,Carol

To John Friedman,

There are plenty of things to do in St. Thomas if you don’t want to shop or go to the beach. Great hearing from you today.
I'd love to see a picture of the 2 CCL ships with the QM2 coming into port. Pretty exciting.
Hearing your complaints about St. Thomas brings back so many memories since I have experienced one of those issues EVERY single time that I have been there (approx. 12 times now). It gets very frustrating. Its quite possibly my favorite island, but a lot has changed and these people take away from the whole experience.
Thanks again and chat with you soon!

I read your blog thingy every day, and it is often one of the highlights of my day. My husband and I have been on several CCL cruises, but we've never been lucky enough to have you as our CD. I was hoping that you would be the CD on the Freedom when we go on the Oct 1st sailing, but it looks like you are moving over to the Splendor. Then I thought, it's OK, we'll have him as the CD on the Blogger's cruise. Oh please, please, please reconsider! As you know, one can't book a cruise to sail with a particular CD, because that information is almost impossible to come by very far in advance. And as Kuki said, with so many people on the ship, it's not like we'd all get very much face time with you anyway. All I was hoping for was a chance to shake your hand and tell you how much I enjoy your blog thingy in person. Maybe get a picture. But not to get to see the "bedtime story" in person! Sigh. Now a question: Do you know if CCL is planning to redo their past guest program at all? Perhaps make it more like Princess'? Unless I can squeeze in one more 4 day quicky out of NYC this summer, the 2009 Blogger's cruise will be our 9th. So close!Another question: Are they ever going to do a "real" Bermuda cruise out of NYC? (By real I mean go to Bermuda as the only destination and dock there for 3 nights. As of this moment, the only choice this year is the Norwegian Dawn. Period. Every other cruise line is going a one day call, if any. My fantasy is for CCL or Princess to send the smallest ship in the fleet there. Especially if it's small enough to squeeze in the St. George harbor.
Thanks again for your thingy. We all love it. I guess you really are a "rock star", now. How does it feel?

Hello John & Heidi,<br
