JOHN!!! EMERGENCY EMERGENCY

This article needs to be passed on to all the bloggers. This article was on MSNBC then Travel, then Cruising then on this headline.

Headline -
Federal rules threaten U.S. cruise ports
New proposal 'could be potentially devastating' to industry.

"The U.S. Customs and Border Protection proposal would require foreign-flagged cruise ships that depart from a U.S. port to spend 48 hours in a foreign port. It would also require them to spend more than 24 hours in a foreign port for every two days in a U.S. port.

More time in foreign ports would mean less in U.S. ports, and fewer tourists to spill out of the ships and spend money in places like Portland."

This will be very devastating to future cruising. We need to band together and prevent this from happening.

Hi John/Heidi:
Nice blog today.
Another example of how someone takes advantage of the cruise line...$4 reimbursement for stockings? Give me a break.
Real shame about the couple leaving seperately. Some things just weren't meant to be.
Thank you for your updated schedule for the Spring.
Looking forward to keeping in touch while you are traveling across the world.
Hope you guys are doing well.
Take care,
David

Hi John and Heidi:
We are scheduled to sail on the 50-day cruise on the Splendor in Jan./09 to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. I was wondering, John, if you possibly would know who would be the CD on that trip.

And to Heidi I ask: I am intimidated by the idea of packing for such a trip especially when it comes to having to board a plane to return home to FL. Outside of bringing bags of quarters for the washing machines, etc., this is boggling my mind. How in the world do you manage this? If I want to do any shopping along the way presents another problem.

The longest trip I've ever taken was only for 3 weeks and I packed using all those clothes I had stored in the back of my closet which were not ones I would have readily picked out . . . and then donated them to the poor in Italy.

I had tried this out in one country but the maid chased me down the hall insisting I take them because she was afraid that she would be accused of stealing them. What a world we live in!

John,

One minor disagrement. Carnival is not the KMart of cruising, it's more the Walmart of cruise lines. Whereas KMart is an alsoran in its field, Walmart is the world leader in bringing quality products in reach of the common man. Seems as though Carnival has done the same for cruising.

Hi John,

I-95 is a nightmare! Would you believe the first time I drove with my restricted license, my mother made me drive on it? I guess it made me a better driver. At least, I think it did. Maybe it made me worse?

John, thank you for the warm welcome! I am, indeed, booked for with the other CruiseMates for the blogger cruise, B2B. Thank you for explaining the area of your responsibility! How do you find time for blogging? How do the other CD manage without a "Heidi" to help them?

I understand how the passenger felt after hearing about the shooting at the university. We were only Elation in 2005 when the large explosion at BP Texas City happened. There were 9 that died and over 100 injured in the explosion. My husband works there, and would have been in the area of the blast, had we not been on the cruise. He will be retired very soon!

Looking forward to all the activities planned for the blogger's cruise! AaaaEEEeeeee!

I'm looking forward to the 2009 Bloggers Cruise! I think helping out in New Orleans would be a great idea as well as the dinner and show! It will be good to go back to New Orleans.
My blogging sister and I were supposed to sail out of New Orleans in October 2005 on the Conquest. Needless to say, we left out of Galveston.
My real question, John (Heidi, are you reading this?), do you think you will get to see/meet Angelina Jolie? You know that she and Brad are building homes in New Orleans and are there frequently. Is this the REAL reason we are going out of New Orleans?? haha
Take care John and Heidi - I look forward to sailing with you again - but first, the August 18 cruise on the Splendor!!

Well...I thought I left a reply, but I can't find it. If this is a repeat, I am sorry!

PLEASE RESPOND!

I would LOVE a 7:30 am hair appointment on 04/08/08 on the Freedom. I am not much of a girly girl, so I need all the help I can get!

Thanks so much for all you do! Della Elliott

John,

Ilda and I were already planning to fly to New Orleans the day before to take in the French Quarter before sailing. We would definitely be interested in participating along with the other bloggers for a "hands on" charity event. Also, if Carnival can put all of us up for a special rate, the would be appreciated as well. We know that the hotels in the area will fill up quick for Mardi Gras, so any information Carnival can provide would be appreciated. Looking forward to the planning!

Hey John! I've been an avid reader of your thingy for the last 8 months, but this is my first comment! The "No Peeing" section of a pool is what triggered me into action - lol.

I used to teach an anti-smoking curriculum to 8th graders and one of the tv commercials we'd show them as part of an activity is the YouTube link below - I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy it!
