John, I think we have proved we are family over and over again. But know that the first Bloggers Cruise has passed and most of us have now meet in person we have really bonded as a true family.

You saw at your birthday party what My Family could do before we ever meet. But now that we meet and even adopted more family members you better realy look out for MY EVIL CREW and Family in 2009.

    John & Heidi,

Thank you both for giving us this medium to be able to reach out and touch others.

I cannot wait to meet you both on Bloggers v.2.

    Sallie

    Hi John,

I’m not keeping up with things properly & only read about the Kimmetts today.

Please add my condolences to those you have already received. Their daughter’s death was a horrible tragedy. God bless & comfort them.

  4. dwa76 says:

    Hi John/Heidi:
Your blogger group is a family in the same way.
We always stand behind each other.
As much as you reach out to us, its the same compassion that you have showed us for more than a year now that we show on others.

  5. Greg Baldasarri says:

I don’t think we’re as special as we are merely human. Most people don’t have the opportunity to share in a community of this nature; to share in the happy moments, the wonderfully silly moments and the most tragic moments in the lives of thousands of like minded folks across the globe.

    Thanks.

    Greg

  6. gacruiser says:

My thoughts and prayers go out to this family. May God bless them and give them strength to get through this sad time.

  7. Linda Hernacki says:

No John, YOU are Special, it is because of you and Heidi that we are all one big happy family, and we feel for others as you do, that is why we care! Linda

  8. tom & jane says:

    just like the song,,
    WE ARE FAMILY

  9. Kuki says:

I’d been missing checking the blog for a couple of days… so I too certainly want to add my consolences to the Kimmett family. It’s TRAGIC!

We had to leave mid cruise once from Rome due to a death in the family, and there’s no doubt it’s tough. But to lose a child under those circumstances has to be devastating than I can fathom. I am SO SORRY!

    Best Regards,
    Kuki

  10. nanetteali says:

Im with Linda… is what you have created a wonderful family that care for each other.
In spanish there is a saying that comes to my mind now. It says; Dios los cria y ellos se juntan. I dont know how to explain it in english maybe Roberto can help. Waiting for instructions for Monday’s visit if it still up.
Muchos huggos to you and Heidi

  11. JOHN, EMERGENCY EMERGENCY

This article was on MSNBC 2/20/2008 under Travel, Cruising

Headline – Federal rules threaten U.S. cruise ports
New proposal ‘could be potentially devastating’ to industry.

“The U.S. Customs and Border Protection proposal would require foreign-flagged cruise ships that depart from a U.S. port to spend 48 hours in a foreign port. It would also require them to spend more than 24 hours in a foreign port for every two days in a U.S. port.”

This needs to be passed on to all bloggers and we need to band together to stop this.

  12. Sheryl Pelton says:

    John,
You were the one with the inspiration to write this fabulous blog that has done more than you expected. It has brought thousands of us, from around the world, together and joined us as one HUGE family. You and Heidi are the glue that holds all of us together, so you need to be the ones being thanked!! I think I speak for so many of us, in the sense that, no matter what needs to be done, we can band together and accomplish so much. We can be there for each other to share in the good times and the bad. That is what being “family” is all about!! We are all so lucky that, thru your efforts and guidance, we have all become a member of the best family ever! THANK YOU, for all you do for all of us!
    Sheryl

  13. lanceandildamissingtheevilcrew says:

    John,

We would like to echo Big Ed’s sentiments on how this big, great “EVIL” crew has become a family. My wife and I both have very small families, so this means a lot to us. The Kimmets have experienced much tragedy and the evil crew responded as we usually do. It makes us very proud to be part of such a tight-knit group who look out for and care for each other.

I also must agree that without your blog dear mate, none of this would even be possible. Thank you, John Heald for bringing this unique cyber family together. All our love to Heidi.

    Lance & Ilda.

PS… there is a SPECTACULAR lunar eclipse right now!!

  14. Deanna says:

Hmm, that doesn’t sound good, and of course they try slipping it in when we aren’t looking. Tell me what I need to do to stop it and I’ll write the letter…….

  15. robert says:

John I have said this many times to you in the past, this is what crusing is all about, the fun the laughter and making new friends and then the hard rough times. We been together for the passing of my mother, 911 and katrina to name a few.. This is another example what we as a group are all about, we will next walk alone.

  16. Linda Hernacki says:

Yes John, I read that article Carol Ann (Cruisin Grandma) is talking about in our local paper as it would affect Port Canaveral. What does this mean for Carnival? I HOPE and PRAY this does not go into affect. Please let us know CCL’s thoughts on this. Linda

  17. LambKnuckles says:

    John,

I think we are the kind of people you are… You attracted those who are similar to your personality. It’s in our nature to care and give. It’s in our nature to share.

If I may: On this last cruise, a couple weeks ago now, I decided to pick up my voice mail as I came into port in Galveston… I was standing on the Verandah deck with strangers around me and I started to cry. Just quiet tears. My daughter had left a message that a friend of mine had been killed (murdered, actually) on my second day of the cruise. I just stood there, holding the phone to my ear with tears running down my face… I was in shock…

The woman close to me came over and put her arm around me and asked if everything was OK. I briefly explained and she just hugged me and held me…

It’s so WONDEREFUL in this world that people will take the time to care. It’s so wonderful that our good Lord sends those to us when we are in need. I believe in our human spirit of love and caring. And I think our personal spirit seeks out those, and stays close to those, who have that same attitude, that same persona, so we have help close at hand when we need it.

God Bless you for sharing this family with us… And May the Lord bless them for a long time to come!!

  18. Linda Hernacki says:

UPDATE to my earlier comments about what Carol Ann said about the U.S. cruise ports new proposal. In this morning’s newspaper, Senator Bill Nelson of Orlando, Florida wrote:
Nelson said a recent ruling that foreign-flagged cruise ships must make extended stays at foreign ports between US stops will NOT be applied to the cruise ships that sail from Port Canaveral and other Florida ports. He said the ruling was tailored narrowly to affect only cruises between California and Hawaii and that Justice Dept. attorneys were trying to impose it nationwide. Obviously, we aren’t going to let this happen, he said, and further stated – We’ll get this straightened out. WHAT A RELIEF as I live in Florida and will NOT fly- at least I NOW know I can continue to enjoy cruising! Linda

  19. Kevin says:

Family takes care of family. That is a simple statement but it has such power to it. To the Kimmett family, my deepest condolences.

    Kevin

  20. Catmama044 says:

Now I can’t get the “We Are Family” song out of my head. But, it is very true…thanks to John, Heidi and our own Big Ed, we have all become one big family. Always there to support those in need, and throw a few bits of evil in where necessary. Lambknuckes, I am so sorry for your loss. Such a tragedy. My prayers are with you.

  21. nanette says:

    John:
Lambknuckles explained perfectly what my phrase
in spanish is all about without knowing:
“I think we are the kind of people you are… You attracted those who are similar to your personality. It’s in our nature to care and give. It’s in our nature to share.
And I think our personal spirit seeks out those, and stays close to those, who have that same attitude, that same persona, so we have help close at hand when we need it.”
Dios los cria y ellos se juntan :)
Thanks lambnuckles it is beautiful and true

  22. To Linda Hernacki

Please keep us informed if you read anything more. I love cruising also and would hate to have to give it up.

    we will never walk alone

  24. Valentine’s Week cruise was great, it was our first, and us Erickson’s are already looking into next year. Hope we can find the same ship you are on.
You and the Band Crew were GREAT!! We spent
a lot of time watching your show on the tv. Take
care and look out for Elvis and the Yodeler.
