If Carnival ever figures out how to clone John the other cuise lines are dead in the water. But the first thing Carnival has to do is make sure John becomes the oldest cruise director ever to sail. Maybe give him a life time contract. A condo on a ship for his family. Free air travel to visit their parents and Alan as needed. He wont need the Aston Martin so free Limo service whenever he is on land. And last but not least a seat on the board of directors of Carnival Corp.BIG ED

We are a family of 4 and we were traveling with a family of four. We all agree that we would book our next cruise based upon where YOU are. We thought your shows were fantastic. You had two 12 year olds and two 10 year olds (plus four 40 somethings) hysterically laughing at your shows. Is there any way we can find out where you will be next year? The kids are literally on the computer right now looking at cruises. You and Carnival have created monsters. My wife and I are so sorry for the Kimmet family. It is every parents worst nightmare. Last year while we were on a cruise our very close friends lost their 7 yr. old daughter to brain cancer. We missed the funeral. It was a double heartbreak. I'm sure your sincere and heartfelt words will be a comfort to the family. As for the obnoxious "F" bomber, you can't stop a jerk from being a jerk and there were many on the ship. Why can't people just have fun and not cause problems for others. Keep doing what you do. You have just earned a loyal Carnival Family!

John, we just returned home from your cruise. We are beyond depressed. I wanted to let you know that the morning show is definately a Keeper! On the Freedom, I was eating breakfast on the deck one morning, while the rest of the family "slept in". Your show was entertaining as well as informative. When I returned to the cabin, I told my husband about the great show I had watched on the big screen. Then when we switched on the television, there you were! I really looked forward to that show each day at sea.
This morning, after a somewhat chaotic episode of getting everyone out the door, I got behind a van. It had a personalized plate which read "North Sea". The driver had a British flag decal in the window. I immediately started to destress as I thought about the Splendor. My husband was a short distance behind me. I called him on his cell and told him to watch for the North Sea license plate. Believe me, both of us are ready to board the Splendor and completely relax.
Take care and give our best to Heidi!

You are taking time out from a very busy schedule and demanding job to do this and it is really appreciated. Your blog thingy is the best. I'll bet there isn't a CD on that other cruise Line who could ever come close to what you do - for the cruise line and for us loyal Carnival cruisers. To paraphrase what was written on an old Carnival Capers of mine - have a spiffing day!Love,

Last time we cruised Carnival things weren't perfect... not Carnival's fault though... we accidentally chose "Spring Break" from NOLA! Add to that spending a day in the cabin during a rough crossing of the Gulf of Mexico and a heck of a long flight each way, plus a long drive home because there were no flights from our local airport...OK... so we've booked, for August 2009, to the Baltic on Carnival Liberty. It looks a great itenary, and the prices (£800 for 12 nights) are great too. I remember the food on Carnival Conquest was great, and all the staff were really friendly and helpful, the cabin was comfortable and our waitress brought me extra Caesar Salad every day.All we need is to get a #1 Cruise Director. So here's your advance warning... get yourself and Heidi posted to Carnival Liberty for summer 2009.I promise not to complain about your morning show, (because I can sleep through ANYTHING!)and as by then we'll have been married for 23 years, hopefully we won't need marriage guidance. If you're open to bribery, I'll start with the offer of a week in one of my holiday cottage apartments in the beautiful North West of England. And a Woodlands Caravan Park whisky glass. I'll even fill it for you.Just let the "Upgrade Fairy" wave her magic wand..... those Suites look lovely!

Hi John.

You’ve done it… you’ve dragged me, kicking and screaming, away from Princess to Carnival. Final answer!Prior to your suggestion, I had even thought of writing the Port Authority and telling them that if they didn't somehow get involved in this, they were, well, less than smart. But I know they are smart.Second, I'm no expert with much, if any, experience in this area, just gut feelings.I'll have to think some more about this, and do realize we were taking different approaches, but perhaps with a common bottom line of getting more people to cruise out of New Orleans and getting a 7 day Carnival cruise back in the city.Don't get me wrong - charity is wonderful, appreciated, and needed, but is not a long term solution. The local economy is based on tourist and convention business and anything helping to get that back to normal is a solution.Since the bloggers time in New Orleans is limited, I was trying to figure out how to expose them to, as much as possible, all the wonderful things the city has to offer. Especially if they do some volunteer work and otherwise miss out on some of the fun - why not bring the fun to them?I'm hoping the bloggers go back to wherever they came from telling all what a wonderful time that had visiting and cruising out of New Orleans. I think this would help dispel some of the unfair treatment New Orleans has received in the media and perhaps help draw more cruisers from outside the immediate area. Perhaps even attract more volunteers during future visits.Another approach, obviously, is to acquaint locals not familiar with Carnival and cruising to Carnival and cruising. Perhaps reacquaint those who had forgotten and/or let them see what is new and improved.I see merits in both.OK, John, I'm convinced. You will just have to do BOTH! Final answer (maybe).I am intrigued and do need to think about this some more.In any event, thanks again for bringing the blogger's cruise to New Orleans. That in itself is HUGE.By any chance, was Uncle Mickey (Arrison) in New Orleans for the NBA All-Star weekend? I think by all accounts it was a huge success and great publicity for the city.Best Regards,
