I hope you dont mind me writting this to you as you dont know me and i did not know your daughter but i was just browsing the name kimmett as i sometimes do and was saddened to read about lindsay i remembered reading about her months ago she seemed a lovely lass, god bless, trisha

John, we are close personal friends of Kelly & Dianne, and just wanted to let you know how touched they have been by your Blog and all of the wonderful comments – thank you for everything you have done. As you have already determined, the Kimmetts are truly exceptional people, and even in the most difficult time imaginable, they are still thinking of others. As an example, last Wednesday evening, they hosted a dinner for about 110 of Lindsay’s Med class, at their home, as a tribute to the dinner Lindsay was planning to host for some of the students, while the rest of the family were on the cruise. This gave them the opportunity to meet the sudents, share stories of Lindsay and to allow everyone to greive the loss of such a wonderful person.
Kelly and Dianne would also like to let everyone to know that if they are interested in supporting Lindsay’s memorial Fund, that donations can be send to ourselves at

1) Scholarship’s at both Cochrane High School & the University of Calgary Medical School.

John, thank you for posting Lindsay’s obituary and letting other people know what an awesome person she was. I never had the honour of meeting Lindsay, but I used to hang out at Kelly’s farm as a kid. Kelly was a couple years older than me (and way bigger), but always was very kind to me and everyone else, he has a “heart of gold”. I read the Calgary Herald’s postings, and because of you, the Kimmett’s received many kind emails, that let them know that others care. Thank you so much, the world needs more people like you and Lindsay.

Dear John
Thank you so much for letting us read the obit for this wonderful woman.
The following was written by Henry Scott Holland 1847-1918 Canon of St Paul’s Cathedral. When my father passed away my mother carried this around until her own passing and now I carry it around with me.

“Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference in your tone, wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Pray, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was, let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was; there is un-broken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner, all is well.”

Some say a grown man shouldn’t cry. How wrong could they possibly be? If anyone could read that wonderful tribute to Lindsay and not shed a tear they would have to be without a soul.

To the Kimmett family, extended family, friends and all that knew Lindsay. I’m so very sorry for your loss. Words could never express. Although we have never met you or your family, the tribute you wrote about Lindsay shows what an amazing person you have raised. You must be so proud of her and all those she touched. What a full life she has lived for a young person, thanks to you.
You will be in our thoughts.

This loss truly is tragic – from what her family wrote, it is obvious to me that the entire world has suffered a loss with the passing of Lindsay.

She was a star shining brightly during her life on earth!! God bless her soul and the family she leaves here on earth. What a blessing she was to so many. What a joy she must have been to all those who knew her. What a tragedy her life was cut short.
