Just heard the following from PA 007
John, I was just having a chat with a friend who has a friend who told him that RCI/Celebrity are about to cancel all their LA-Hawaii cruises.
I have no idea if this is true but it seems that the source was pretty good.
OK, back to my cubicle
Over and out

007,
Good for them. What’s an RCI/Celebrity anyway?
John, a group of Cruise Critics met and sailed on the April 19th Freedom last year. 12 of us along with many more newbies will be sailing on the Aug. 30th Splendor. My questions are this: Can we arrange to have a place to meet on the first sea day? Will Dino the Maitre’d be sailing with us? How about Ron Pass and Moana the Kaoroke hostess? Ray (really Ramon) sailed with you twice on the Triumph and then again on the Freedom, we love your sense of humor. Thanks for the news. Vicky
Hi John/Heidi:
I guess they are just following in the footsteps of NCL who pulled back one of their ships recently from that route.
I have heard from others that this is a continuing trend.
Catered to a specialized niche (tiny one at that).
Just my 2 cents.
Hope all is well!
David
Is this in response to that nonsensical legislation that would require 48 hour stops in port for non US flagged vessels??
What a crock…
The entire industry needs to be heard as one on this issue…
007, John, Heidi, Roberto, Stephanie, etc.
I don’t know about Scumbag of the Seas, but NCL pulled 2 of its 3 ships out of Hawaii.
Regards,
Carol
As long as Carnival doesn’t plan on doing that as my mom and I are planning to go on a cruise to Hawaii with Carnival either in 2009 or 2010. Please tell me it isn’t so………
John…
WOW!!! Maybe Washington will sit up and take notice! WOW!!!

Wow – you think their business is slowing? I mean if the rock thingy isn’t attracting people to Hawaii – what next?
I’m with Greg B. I think this is in response to the legislation. I think it’s a shame. For people that don’t like to fly but still want to experience the wonder of Hawaii, a roundtrip cruise from the West Coast is a great thing. I’ve been hoping Carnival would add a roundtrip itinerary from the West Coast for a long time. Guess we won’t see that happen.
I’m bummed.
