Hi John,

Nice random photo of Sergey Shchetinin (Carnival Dancer). He's a great dancer and I'm sure the ladies on this blog liked the picture. But for us guys, how about posting a photo of dancer Krysta B. (don't know her full last name). She's a fantastic dancer, and is stunningly gorgeous!
(thank you in advance)

We'll be booking our next Carnival cruise in a couple of days (hope to see you in Feb 2009)! It will be our 7th cruise with Carnival and hopefully one of our largest groups ever!

John: Just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy your blogs. I am traveling with a friend on the freedom in Sept, and so look forward to your talks and stories. I was on the Elation this past spring and went to a turtle farm and did it ever dawn on your PETA "friend" that with out these programs we wouldnt have ANY turtles. When they are hatched in the wild many dont even make it to the water. Oh well this world is full of silly people.....Looking forward to Sept and the sunny Med.

Dear John: (For Your Amusement)

I was wondering if possibly Mr. & Mrs. Germanflopalot were really Adam & Eve:

After three weeks in the Garden of Eden, God came to visit Eve.

"So, how is everything going," inquired God.

"It's all so beautiful," she replied. The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking, the smells, the sights, everything is wonderful, but I have just one problem . . . . It is these breasts you have given me. The middle one pushes the other two out and I am constantly knocking them with my arms, catching them on branches and snagging them on bushes. They are a real pain," reported Eve.

And Eve went on to tell God that since many other parts of her body came in pairs, such as her limbs, eyes, ears, etc. . . . she felt that having only two breasts might leave her body more "symmetrically balanced," - as she put it.

"That is a fair point," replied God. "But it was my first shot at this, you know. I gave the animals six breasts, so I figured that you needed only half of those, but I see that you are right. I will fix it up right away."

And God reached down, removed the middle breast and tosed it in the bushes.

Three weeks passed and God, once again visited Eve in the Garden of Eden.

"Well, Eve, how is my favorite creation?"

"Just fantastic," she relied, "but for one oversight on your part. You see, all the animals are paired off. The ewe has a ram, and the cow has her bull. All the animals have a mate except me. I feel so alone."

God thought for a moment and said, "You know, Eve, you are right. How could I have overlooked this? You do need a mate and I will immediately create a man from a part of you. Now let's see . . .
where did I put that useless boob?"

Now doesn't THAT make more sense than that stuff about the rib??

John, I feel so bad for you and your frustrations with your current condition. And I'm afraid my usual mood brightener won't work for you. Whenever things are going wrong for me, I just think about my next cruise.

They just announced a level 2 snow emergency for my home county and I can't go home from work tonight (I live 40 miles from my job). But I brought my DVDs of my recent Carnival Liberty cruise with me this morning, so I am going to my daughter's house tonight and watch them and remember cruises past and anticipate cruises future (one more week!).

After we visited the turtle farm and learned they were actually raising and releasing large numbers of these turtles into the wild, hubby and I promptly went out and ate turtle burgers -- guilt free since this endangered species was being replenished around Cayman. LOL

Originally the Cayman turtle farm was established in the hopes that farm-raised turtles would be exempted from the ban on importing turtle products ( of this species, that is) in the US. So the original intentions were not exactly turtle-friendly.

No need to tell your PETA friend that, but he should know about the raise-and-release program.

John,

I came across your blog while planning for a Carnival cruise (our second). I've been reading for a month or so. The blend of humor, facts, and your compassion make for a great blog. I look forward each day to hear what absurd/amusing thing happened that day. I think that today 's sunbathing story is at the top of the list. What will tomorrow bring?

Just found your blog a few days ago and am enjoying it a great deal. We're booked (DH, myself, and our son age 5) on the Victory on the 23rd. This is our 6th cruise (3rd on Carnival). Any hints about the Victory we should know? My son loves kid's club on all ships, anything special on this one? Also, we're planning our August cruise and would love suggestions. We prefer longer cruises and more sea days. Must have a good kids program, we tend to make the most of whatever port we're in...
Thanks for an interesting read each day!
