Dear John - I just happened upon your blog when I was searching for Jerry Goodspeed. My husband & I were on a Carnival cruise on the MARDI GRAS in the late 70's and met Jerry & Sylvester. They were so much fun!! and we enjoyed the cruise. Also there was a comedian, Bob Goss. We've often wondered if those guys are still around and cruising.........do you by any chance know how we could contact Jerry. If he is still on the ships, do you know which ones? Thanks so much for any info you may have.

John,
I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of which you spoke. It has been many yrs since I had the pleasure of cruising with you, but reading your blog has reminded me of your heart, and tho I know it is hurting now, I hope all the love your regular bloggers are sending you helps you to heal soon and you are once again able to share your humor with everyone, on the ship and on the blog.
My prayers and thoughs go with you, Heidi and most especially the family.

It’s not our place within this world
Our time of leaving to choose
The way we go or when or how
Or loved ones we may lose.
I have but one request of the Lord
To most it may seem odd
I wish to sleep in the arms of the sea
And wake in the arms of God.

John, while the lady's family will obviously be sad at loosing her, it sounds like she was an angel long before she left this world. I've said it on this blog before, so please humour me (spelt British) one more time--she was doing what she loved. She was already in Heaven; God just made it official.

Hey again, John!

I have the perfect solution to some of the bloggers' request for somehow getting the blog while on a cruise. At least it would work for all who are onboard with you. All bloggers would simply meet in your cabin and read along as you post. What do you think? You might need to keep your trousers on, though. And Heidi couldn't sleep while you type as we would probably need the bed for sitting space.

On a more serious note, could something be set up, like a Power Point presentation, in one of the lounges (or some not much used room) on each ship and anyone interested could keep up with the blog that way?

Now that I think about it, it seems we have a serious addiction going on here if we can't make it through three to 16 days without word from you. Wow, does that make you an illegal substance?

Hope you're feeling cheerier,

Hi John,
My deepest sympathy to the family of the lady, you, Heidi, & the rest of the Freedom crew. Her death is such a sad thing that it can't help but affect everyone.

As for your reaction to Mr. Stabilizer.........Granny Longingtocruise has a theory. Prednisone makes my temper go wild, exploding suddenly without any warning & maybe it affects you that way also. Not that you didn't have a reason to be very angry with him, but you're normally so very cool & able to handle any difficult situation without a having a spontaneous sudden reaction. It's really way past time for Mr. Bell's to take a hike back to France & I hope that he does so very very soon. Take care of yourself.

Belle907,
Another friend who will be on the Splendor's July 13th sailing. Thank you also for keeping track of the number of days. I think I will actually mark it in my calendar today, so I can keep track of the countdown. I will be glad when we can actually meet on the ship. It will be good to be able to put a face with a name.
Have a good weekend

John, my dear, sweet, lamb-free friend...

My prayer and condolences to the family and friends of your passenger. Our lives have seasons and how we spend them and use them is our gift back to God and to each other. Your friend has reached a new season and is at peace in a new life. Ours is one of acceptance, understanding, and remembering all the wonderful moments... and grieving. Grieving is a wonderful gift, a wonderful process to work through to come to acceptance...

Your Mr. Stabilizer gave you part of your process, and your sharing it with us is part of ours. You humor is a gift, your writing is a gift, your whole being is a gift that we cherish, that I cherish... God bless you in your grief, and those who surround this passing.

Regards,
Lambie

Dear John,
I am so sorry about everything you have been dealing with, and now the death of a passenger. The fact that you feel so deeply is one of the things that makes you so very special to me and others as well, I'm sure. You
know I will continue to keep you and our other bloggers in my thoughts and prayers, adding to that the family of your passenger, gacruiser who lost her good friend and popcorngal who has lost a beloved pet.

Now, to our very own CAPTAIN "BLOOM". How cool is that, to have the Captain posting on the blog! This makes you an official blogger now
Captain and you simply MUST join us on the 2009 Bloggers Cruise! Bring your family, lose the uniform and get down and party with the rest of us! Good lord, who ever thought our handsome and dignified Captain D'Aita would be referred to as "my dog, Captian Bloom". I bet you've got some stories to tell about some of the characters you've met over the years, including John. Take care Captain and thank your for keeping us safe when we are in your care.
