Hi John/Heidi:
Great blog. I really enjoyed the pictures and the last one of you in front of the French embassy had me rolling.
Does Bubba know what boat was retired in Alaska from Deadliest Catch? As he mentioned, its a huge show here in the states and new episodes start up again tomorrow night.
Sounds like you're having an amazing time in St. Petersburg.
Hope everything else is going well.

If I lived in St. Petersburg, I'd probably be the one driving the Vulga :(. Even the French would be lauging at the big guy in the little car. Still, given the choice of being French or driving a Vulga............... well, you know what my choice would be.

Hi John !

We really enjoyed the Freedom. It was nice to see you and Heidi briefly.

I havent posted cause the last moring of the cruise woke up sick--yep a nasty upper respitory infection---It's been 2 weeks nad am finally feeling better. At least I got sick at the end of the cruise, not the beginning.

It was nice to see Ken again as well as Ron and Nortjee.

I would love to do the Baltic cruise this year, but unless we win the lottery, it's not gonna happen--maybe next year though.

We are booked on the Splendor 11/17--Grand Turk (which is gorgeous and Half Moon Cay. Cant wait--Nov is soooo far away.

I loved the pics of St Petersburg---would love to see the Hermitage someday.

Take care !

John,

I am struggling with choosing between three cruises in July/August 2009. I've narrowed them down to the Carnival Liberty sailing out of London through Northern Europe (including St Petersburg); or the Carnival Freedom out of Rome, which has two itineraries; one includes the ports of Greece, and the other does not, but still has an amazing itinerary.

I know I would enjoy the Liberty itinerary, as well as the Eastern Med itineraries ... but I'm not so sure my wife and son (he will be 16 in July 2009) will enjoy the ports of Copenhagen, St Petersburg, Tallinn, etc... While they're very cultural ports, I'm not sure how "fun" they will be.

Any advice?

I have enjoyed reading your blog thingy since the beginning. My friend visited St. Petersberg on Princess last year. Her pictures are incredible. How wonderful it is that Carnival is going there too. I am enjoying Chris' blog from Alaska. I will be sailing with him in July. On our last trip to Alaska we had a beautiful sunny day in Ketchikan. I'm looking forward to meeting Chris. John, will you still be on the Splendor for New Years Eve?
