That sweet horse looks like our Montgomery. I'm sure he really wanted to be friends - as long as you didn't try to ride him. Once in a small town in Italy we saw a shop with a picture of a horse hanging in front. Of course this would be a tack shop so we entered to look for something to take home for our horses.
