Hi John/Heidi:
Simply amazing.
Words can’t describe how awesome of a sight this is.
Thank you for thinking of us and taking the time.
Hope all is well!
David
You look great!! The ships look great!! And I love the crew out on the deck… the chef hats look great!! Oh yes, and the pups… before they’re off to be spoiled and pampered!!
John, nice pictures but we miss Heidi behind the camera. I see by the last picture that you even got mike time on one of the Queens. What where you doing emcee or entertaining?
We’re back from our first cruise on the Freedom and seeing these pictures really makes me wish the next year or so fly by so we can book our next cruise. Daughter’s wedding and all that you know. HA!
The Freedom was spectacular and we had a great time on the ship. Two of our excursions were cancelled because of weather, but that is usually our luck on trips. All in all, our first experience on a cruise ship was wonderful and we will definitely do it again. Todd and Nordja were great, but it would have been fun to meet you finally.
I really like that pic of the room with the mural of a ship. I wonder, is it painted? It looks like it might be intarsia (a picture made out of pieces of different colored woods).
Great pics John..thanks for sharing! We had the honor of being docked beside the QM2 in Ft. Lauderdale several years ago when we were sailing on the Legend. We thoroughly checked her out and got to see her sailing into the harbor before daylight that morning as well. She is truly a sight to behold, especially all lit up. We sailed out first and that mighty horn of hers as we saluted each other was booming across all of Ft. Lauderdale. She also joined us in St. Thomas a few days later. She was way too big to dock, so we sailed past her at anchor.
What a delight to see her again. Safe trip back to the US for you and home again. Your schedule is absolutely crazy! As always, my best to Heidi too.
I noticed of course that Carol Marlow was decked out in the Cunard colors…. how apropos… albeit not the first time….. She must possess more than a few red/black ensembles in her wardrobe….but who cares….it was the Cunard-O-Rama day …….
The dogs appear to be pugs. Very cute. Do you think there’s a “weight” limit for dogs who can sail? I wonder if my Old English Sheepdog would be allowed onboard? Do you know whether the dogs are confined to the kennels and the deck where the kennels are located? If you don’t know would a customer service rep with Cunard be able to tell me if I wanted to book a cruise? Do they have kennels on all their ships? Why doesn’t Carnival have kennels so we can take our furry kids and not have to find “baby sitters” when we want to cruise. I still think an annual furry kids cruise (even a three day Caribbean) would be fun.
Is the sit-com thingy still in the works? When will the show your filming in LA be on TV? Inquiring minds want to know.
Thanks for the pictures. Maybe we’ll have to try a Cunard cruise.
Now that it’s been announced that the Dream will be homeported at Port Canaveral what else can you tell us about it? Hopefully she will do longer cruises than 7 days.
To Linda Kiciaski, I called the lady today, that we book our cruises thru at Carnival to see if she had any info about the Dream. She said they hadn’t been notified about any of the Dream’s cruises yet. She quaranteed me I would be the first person that she called when she got any info. SMILE
So John if you know anything please tell us. Apparently no one else knows.
Good evening Mr. Heald. Just beautiful, just beautiful to see those three fantastic ships of royalty. The picture with you wasn’t have bad.LOL. Thank you for the photos. Now, back to the U.S. Ciao for now my friend.
WOW what a sight, John!! Thanks for taking us there!! I hope I can keep up with your adventures while I sail next week, are you off to LA now?
Hugs to you, and especially Heidi….HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GIRL!!!
The 3 Queens in port together was a grand spectacle and not one that will be repeated (at least with QE2)…..
Sister ships lining up in port is not a new thing….but when several dock or anchor near each other it stirs an appreciation for the popularity of the line….with the fanfare of the multitudes of well-wishers and bystanders it is apparent that Cunard is beloved by the British….and the world.
Although it may pale in comparison, I found this photo posted on the web of 4 Carnival ships parked next to each other…..very cool picture I think.
Beautiful pictures. And just think, you were a part of that amazing piece of history. I’m sure you are LA bound. Good luck. Hope all is well with Alan, and please tell Heidi: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I have finally gotten thru all the blog entries that I missed this week, but your photos and experiences with the Queens was the best. I am so glad you got a chance to see the 3 of them together. What a thrill, and your writing was touching.
Happy Birthday Heidi.
I also saw that story about the Dream being based in Pt. Canaveral.
I just found out that my sister & brother-in-law are booked on the Miracle this July (the same cruise I will be taking in September, but since they’re teachers/principals, the summer is their time to cruise). Now I started working on them, and my 2 nephews to start planning for the Miracle’s new itinerary to Grand Turk & Half Moon Cay in July 2009. I think I made some progress – one of my nephews asked me about Camp Carnival.
My camera arrived a few minutes ago. It is great. It is small and lightweight. Perfect for traveling. And arrived just in time for us to charge the battery before heading to Miami for the TransAtlantic. I hope your schedule is still allowing you to join us in Malaga so that I can thank you in person.
thanks for sharing photos of the qm.. I’ll be on her june 16 for 16 days.. all the way back to new york.!!..leave on the Freedom TOMORROW!.. come back on the QM2… after roaming around Italy, and London, dare I mention Paris.. LOL… hope to see you somewhere along our cruise on Freedom.. I’m sure we’ll hear the tumultuous applause..and all the flashbulbs will be popping!..and we’ll know our celebrity has arrived!..if they don’t provide you with first class service we can lower you a rope from our aft balcony as you row out to join the Freedom…
Hi John!
Thanx for the pics!! They were great!
CONGRATULATIONS ON THE 2 MILLION MARK! WHOULD’VE THUNK IT?
Glad I will be around for the next 2 million!
Best to Heidi and Alan!

Emily and I will be leaving early Saturday morning (April 26th) and we didn’t want to miss your birthday on Monday. So have a great day and a very Happy Birthday.
John,
Wonderful pictures from Cunard. Absolutely gorgeous ships- I loved the fact that people had brought the dogs. My little shih tzu would love to travel with us, but I know that is not possible. He is a senior citizen and does not adjust to change very well. I must admit he is also a tad spoiled. He only walks well for his mommy!
Happy Birthday, Heidi! Hope you have a wonderful day and many more years of happiness.
Thanks for the updates, John! Looking forward to seeing actual pictures from the Splendor. I know it will not be much longer now!
Ruth
Just found out the blog went over two million slaps. Congratulations on getting to this milestone. By the time this blog has run its course (if it ever does) two million will be a drop in the bucket and we will have been on tons of blogger’s cruises. Thanks, John. And thanks also to all of the people involved that have brought this outstanding blog to us.
Mickeyspal,
What a unique idea! I “fur kid cruise”. My little guy would not qualify as a kid because he is almost ten years old. I do still refer to his affectionately as “Puppy”. It would be great to be able to take them with us, however, the thoughts of my baby being in the cargo hole of a plane just horrify me. Each time we get ready to take a cruise I worry about how he will do while I am gone. He is always fine when I return!
They would probably have a lot of veterinary restrictions and the animals might have to be quarintined. Anyway, I think the idea of dogs being able to come on cruises is a good idea!
Instead of Camp Carnival, the animals could stay in Camp Canine!
Ruth
John, fantastic pictures. I haven’t seen so many queens together since the last Elton John concert.
And then to finish off, according to the last photo you got to be an announcer on QVC – amazing!
Have fun in LA, the land of assorted fruits and nuts! Maybe you will have time to make a surprise appearance at Long Beach Harbor to greet embarking guests! After all, we westerners love you, too!

The pictures are great. On Jan 13, 2008 I was on the QM2 in New York when all three Queens were sailing. It was wonderful and our balcony was on the side of Lady Liberty with fireworks right above us. We had a great 10 day Caribbean Cruise on the QM2. We are also booked on the QE2 for her last crossing from New York to England Oct 16, 08. We are booked in a Grill Suite. We are also looking to be on the maiden voyage of the new Queen Elizabeth fall of 2010.

I’m stunned by how imposing the QE2 remains despite her 40 years.
The picture of the QM2 and QE2 side by side is amazing!!
