Hi Everyone,
Stephanie here- Just wanted to let you know that www.carnival.com is undergoing scheduled maintenance tonight starting at 11 pm EST. The site will be back up and running at 11 am EST, tomorrow, Saturday, April 26. We apologize for any inconvenience. Should you have any questions during the site downtime please call 1-888-CARNIVAL.
Because the site will be down, there may be a delay in John’s postings on Saturday, 4/26. However, comment posting and post viewing will not be affected.
Regards,
Stephanie
Look, friends — there are a few things you should remember before you comment. The space below is for you to post your comments about the post I've just written above. If it is something that's unrelated, please use the Ask John tab above. Now, while I may not be able to reply to your comment below, I do sit in my underpants almost every morning and read everything that is here. So feel free to comment on the comments and then if someone wants to comment on the comment to the comment then go ahead as well. Please be courteous unless the poster is French...........then you can say whatever you want.

Saw the email and thank you for re-posting. Being in – the know – however that occurs is so much better than not. We all appreciate it.
Good evening to all.

While the servers are being maintained, why not put a rock climbing wall up them?
As far as the smoke detectors go, smoke will travel to the highest point so therefor you want the smoke detectors up there. If you have them lower then the high spots fill with smoke 1st then the smoke travels down. Thus allowing alot more smoke int eh structure and making less of a chance for you to get out before being overcome by the smoke. So most places with building codes require them be as high as the tallest ceiling. Where I work we go out and change the batteries in the area daily and more and more are on cathedral or vaulted ceilings.
As for the battery life you should change the battery atleast 1 time a year if using a good quality battery, if you are using el cheapo batteries 2 times a year recommended when the time changes or spring and fall. The detectors are designed so that when the battery gets LOW it will beep that way if it detects smoke it will still alarm. If it has been “chirping” the low battery sound and stops then it is truley “dead” and you have NO protection from the smoke. The most dangerous time is when you are asleep and you still hear things but your noise goes to sleep to and you don’t smell the smoke and wake up.
6 months and counting til fall break on the Glory. yeah yeah
Thank you Stephanie for your note. I appreciate your thoughtfullness.

thanks Stephanie – I saw the email about that. AND, I am wondering, is there any way you or John or maybe even PA007 will be in Miami the end of May for the ship inspection fam? My co-worker and I are going to be there. Anyone else on the blog going to be there? I hope.
Hi Stephanie:
I didn’t realize until today that you have a blog yourself. That is great! I went back a few months, and read alittle about the new commercials and I was wondering who thought of Queen (and the late, great Freddy Mercury) and their song “You’re My Best Friend” to use as Carnival’s new song? Great choice, it was actually my first choice for my wedding song when I tied the knot 15 years ago. Anyway I think that Carnival (for the most part )is doing a great job. You too should be thanked for everything you do, so thanks. Just curious really, but what is it that you do at Carnival anyway? (Not trying to
be funny, I really want to know!)
Sincerely,
Sue frm Narrowsburg
A Big Fan of John’s blog and Queen
Thanks Stephanie….for all you do!!!

Hi Sue,
I work on social networking…blogs, Facebook, Carnivalconnections.com, and a few other things. If you visit Carnival Connections you’ll see my name in a few places. It’s kind of hard to explain exactly what I do, but mainly it’s research, strategy, product development, etc. If you want to know more, just email me at socialnetworking@carnival.com
Stephanie
Thanks Stephanie for all that you do to bring John’s blog to us everyday.
Stephanie, we all know that behind every great man (sitting in a chair with a brandy, smoking a cigar) is a great woman (working her little fingers to the bone). Thank you for being that woman. We appreciate all the things you do for us, and the personal touch you add to what could be a commercial endeavor.

Hi Stephanie,
You seem to be someone “in the know”. How do I go about scheduling a meet and greet for some 50 cruisecritic people for our June 15, 2008 Carnival Freedom Cruise?
Thanks,
Barb
