Hi John/Heidi:
I think you should take Mr. Cahill's picture on the surfboard and blow it up to poster size for your bedroom wall. What a picture.
Please give us plenty of warnings for when you saddle up on a wave. I'd like to plan ahead for that one.
Great to hear you are getting settled on board. Looking forward to chatting with you again soon.
Hope everything else is going well.
Keep in touch!

"Grand Turk, one of the Caribbean’s most unspoiled and beautiful islands...this magnificent destination and encompasses a state-of-the-art pier and a 13-acre complex offering an 800-foot-long private beach, swimming pool, and a variety of retail shops, including the Caribbean’s largest “Margaritaville”-themed bar and restaurant."
Hmmm, that must be a new usage of the word "unspoiled" that I am not familiar with. Or perhaps Margaritaville bars evolve as natural parts of the Caribbean ecosytems? ;-)

John, Hope all is well! My last comment probably did not get through but just in case, do you have any idea as to who will be our cruise Director on the Splendor next April out of Long Beach CA? Thanks for the pictures of the new ship.

Surf's Up Dude!

Just one more reason to go to Grand Turk - even though you'll never catch me on one of those things.

I love the photos of the Splendor. Even with some of the construction materials still around, you can see how beautiful she is.

Later, dude.

John:

I, too, am a fan of really useful and helpful inventions. In the last week I have heard about some sort of contraption that allows vehicles (but it may just be diesel vehicles) to run on vegetable oil! Those that have made these conversions to their vehicle go to the local MacDonald's and offer to take the used vegetable oil off their hands. Apparently the fast-food restaurants are happy to be rid of the problem of disposing it, and the new users filter it in some way and then run their cars on it! Of course, I've heard they smell like french fries (chips to you English dudes!) as they travedl down the streets!

There is one invention that I believe should have earned it's inventor a Nobel Prize (because it certainly has helped the cause of peace in our family when we travel)....I hereby salute the man or woman that invented wheels and telescoping handles for luggage!

I am enjoying this blog so much. My husband and I will be on the Splendor 9/11 so I am especially pleased with the photos but I was extremely happy to see the photo of Gary - he has been on our last 2 cruises (Freedom 6/07 & Pride 6/06) and found him very entertaining. Best of luck on your weight loss and I can't wait to see you (and Gary) in September.

>>So pretty soon you’ll be able to watch Free Willy on my underpants.

Wide screen edition, right? :)

>>hold the phone against a speaker and within 30 seconds, for just 50 eurcents, you’ll be sent a text saying what the song is and who it’s by.

We have a similar service here in the United States - it's called satellite radio.

Actually, I think satellite radio is great. I got it for myself for Christmas to be able to listen to baseball games at work.

On our trip to Florida for our recent Carnival Liberty cruise, it came in very helpful in keeping track of what was going on with the Celtics - Lakers game. Our rule is that whomever is driving gets to pick the music. The Mrs. does not like the radio on, so I would turn the actual radio turned off, but the satellite receiver, which broadcasts through the car's radio, could stay on and I could follow the score.

Now, onto the diet news. I, too, am looking to lose a few pounds and have found the ideal way to lose weight fast - it's a new supplement invented by Sal Monella. It is developed from tomatoes that have not been properly raised and washed.

So far, I have lost eleven pounds in just six days. How is that for results!!!!!!

Of course, there are side effects. First of all, you do need a seat on the toilet, so it won't work for you with the cabin in it's current condition. Second, just about any food will cause your stomach to twist in knots. Bananas and applesauce suddenly become your diet of choice. I have no idea about sugar-free jelly beans, as I am not willing to risk that food supplement.

Keep up the good work on your diet, John, and I will work hard to lose weight as well. It would not do for a slim, trim John Heald to be standing besides a not so svelte Jon for Essex Junction on the Blogger's Cruise.

My first goal is to get the forty pounds I have gained in the last two years to vanish. Then, I will need to work on those twenty pounds that I gained since coming to Philadelphia in 1994. After that, its the sixty pounds I gained since leaving the Navy.

Realistically, if I can lose 80-100 pounds overall, I would be ecstatic. It won't be in time for the Blogger's Cruise, but I would love to be on the low side of 250 for the Blogger's Cruise, which means I still need to lose another 44 pounds.

Keep blogging, whether by lap top dancing computer or raspberry beret - we love it.
