Great interview with Mike, nice to learn things from the designside of the fleet.

I agree with Big Ed: How about some "lake" cruises?! I'm from Ashland, WI, right up against the south shore of Lake Superior and that whole area is GORGEOUS, with lots of history and attractions. The Twin Harbors (Duluth, MN, and Superior, WI) are great, as well as Thunder Bay, ONT, and then you've got Green Bay, WI and Chicago, IL, on Lk Michigan, then Detroit, MI and Cleveland, OH, on Lk Erie, and up the Huron to parts New York and Pennsylvania, plus the St. Lawrence river! ... Just no 'Edmund Fitzgeralds,' please!

And, like others, I don't put much stock in Prof. Cohen's opinion. Sounds more like disgruntled, "some-guy-did-me-wrong," man-hating than any real academia. Yet if a man were to write a similar opine about women, he'd find himself strung up on the closest tree limb or street lamp. Too many "experts" put out their personal experience/opinion as dogma, when it's your own experience/opinion that should matter.

That show was pretty good. Even though I did not learn anything new, it was nice to see something about Carnival on TV.
Have a great weekend and let there be an A/C working soon!

Poor Host Mach! My Mom had a chicken for a pet (with only one leg to boot) that suffered the same fate. My Mom didn't realize until she asked for a second drumstick and was told: "This chicken only had one leg." How can parents do such things!

Ah, John, your description of London made me sad. But you did leave out the best of London to me -- its fabulous museums. While not exactly "British" they contain some of the most famous treasures in the world: Elgin Marbles, Rosetta Stone, etc. They're like the best of the whole world gathered in one place.

Try to convince Heidi to consider a cat. They don't require near the maintenance and truly can be left unattended for a whole weekend if proper food, water, and a litter box are provided. Plus, nothing beats a purring kitty snug on your lap while reading or watching TV.

Jo,
I remember a much different London and that was only 20 years ago!! Very sad!! It's getting to the point where one city blends into the next in style, charm and character... or lack thereof..

Samantha Brown's show as wonderful... I watched it twice as I didn't record it...

Regards to you, Heidi, and Stephanie!

John, "Samantha Brown Showcases Carnival Inspiration’s‘Evolutions of Fun’ Amenities"show was a well done hour long commercial for Carnival. All it missed was some of your homour, Laura on Ron's piano in the piano bar, Ken in the dinning room singing and a lot more of the Water Works on the Lido.

Now I want to see the Carnival Fantasy on the Bloggers Cruise even more.

BIG ED
232 more days to the BC
are YOU booked yet???

John, I have to agree with Marsha Breen. Why don't they use some other color besides orange? How about aqua or the color of the beautiful waters that they cruise on in the Caribbean, for instance, or some of the colors in the sky during the beautiful sunrises or sunsets?
Just a thought

John,

I've just started reading your blog as Im cruising on the Splendor with you in August.

I totally agree with your comments on London, so much so Ive convinced fellow cruisers on our Cruise Critics roll call to stay overnight pre-cruise in Canterbury so they can get a real sense of British history, culture and most importantly good beer.

Im from just outside Birmingham but used to live in Dover when I worked on the Hovercrafts. I travel to London regularly, the last few time I was there I was amazed that I never once spoke to a British person.

Keep blogging, I'll keep reading and I will see you in August.
Toodle pip for now!

John,
I thought you were talking about me there for a second... jk. I hope the first weekend on the Splendor is a success. I have written down on my hand the time for your USA show tomorrow so I can remember to set the DVR.
