Brought back some memories of our years stationed in Frankurt, West Germany. I say that because we were their when they were still divided. Maria and I had a chance to go to East Germany (through Checkpoint Charlie) in 1988. I had to request all kinds of clearances (Flag Orders) to visit the East. That same day an individual tried to escape/run from the East to the West but was unsuccessful, the eastern authorities caught up with him and sadly it was a "police brutally" visual without all the cameras and videos as we have these days.
