I am appalled that the sea is has floating garbage, I personally have only witnessed one item floating way out in the Gulf; but it did catch my attention and I wondered how it got so far out. I always take my trash, or put it in a proper receptical when visiting the beach. My Thanks to Carnival for doing the clean ups and controling environmental impact.

Now way down at the bottom of your post, as a cute little PS, today I finally see the mention of Bloggers Cruse News!! YIPEE, I’ll be glued to the computer waiting for it. (Maybe we could do a little beach clean-up at one of our port stops?)

As usual, I really enjoyed your blog and the attached video.

I don’t usually respond to your blog, but the mention of all the garbage that was around the sea/land area just made me mad enough to say something about it.

I’m from Texas and we have some local prisoners that come out on a weekly basis to pick up trash on the sides of our highways. Much needed, since we too have idiots that think the world is their trash bin. I would have hoped that the local jails around the sea towns would do the same. Surely there is enough of these people to do a fair job at getting the garbage removed.

I have seen plenty of people that have stopped their car at red lights simply open their door and empty their ashtray. I have always wanted to do what you did, but here in Texas, I’m rather worried about being shot by the idiot because he/she was carrying a gun.

Finally, I wanted to say that you speak really good “french”! So multi-talented.

I am glad debarkation & embarkation are getting better. I guess it’s the same story – people don’t do research, ask questions or read their documents before they cruise. I’m curious too about what happened to the man who wouldn’t turn in his passport.

Yesterday I saw a story about a survey that Expedia.com did about who were the best tourists. Americans came in at #11 out of 31. The Japanese were voted #1 followed by the Swiss and Canadian. And John, you may ask, what tourists were voted the absolute worst? Your favorites – the French, and it was specified because of their rudeness. Bathing habits were not mentioned.

I agree with your totally on people who litter and have no consideration for others or the environment. And I have done something similar to your garbage throwing reaction – well not the same, just same idea. I’ve seen people on the bus leave their garbage behind when they get off. A couple of times I shamed them into taking it with them – “Is that yours?” or “I think you left something”. Just this morning a man tried to get on the bus with an open cup of coffee. The driver wouldn’t let him so what does he do? He takes the full cup & throws it behind him into the street. I hope no one got covered in hot coffee. But it shows what kind of pigs people can be. I wonder what their homes look like.

I applaud Carnival’s continuing environmental efforts, and I do like your idea about the glass bottles.
