For Stephanie

As you know Stephanie dedicates each and every day to the blog. She makes sure its posted as well as keeping up with the comments etc. She has done this regardless of her own personal circumstances and that includes recently discovering her Mum has Parkinson’s. This is of course something that I asked her permission to share with you all and once I received it I assured her that everyone would send their support, especially those bloggers who may have had experience with this terrible affliction.

So, please send your best to her Mum and I can assure that even though Stephanie looks after her morning, noon and night her dedication to the blog will be resolute.

Thanks
John

  2. Stephanie,

We are so deeply sorry to hear of you mom’s illness. Both you and John were so kind to us when Gary was diagnosed with cancer last month. We had hope to meet you all on September 11 on the Splendor but that had to be postponed. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you, your mom and family. We’ll be thinking of you here in Canada. Keep up the good fight!

  3. Stephanie:

We all appreciate your efforts to keep the blog thingy up to date. Seeing your efforts on behalf of all of us readers, I am sure that your mother is benefitting from your wonderful care and assistance!

  5. John,

Please let Stephanie know that many of us are supporting her. My husband, after suffering from a stroke in 2003, was diagnosed with lewy body demetia ( a disease which is a combination of alzheimer’s disease and parkinson disease). Neither of them are “nice” diseases. We just do the best for the ones that we love. Tell her to be strong and know that many people care for her and her Mom.

  6. Hi Stephanie,

My thoughts are with you and your Mom. At times it may be difficult, but hang in there. If you have to vent at all, I’m sure the bloggers will be here for you. I was my mom’s caregiver, but she had Alzheimer’s, not Parkinson’s, so the results were different, but I know how stressful it can be and at times you need a break.

My best to you and your mom,
    Carol

  7. Stephanie, big hugs to you and your Mum…and bless your sweet heart for your excellent dedication to both your Mum and to the blog thingy. John and his followers depend on you daily for keeping us all in touch, so may you have the wisdom and strength you need each and every day to get your various jobs done. Blessings and big thanks to you, honey.

  10. Stephanie, I have been worried about you. I just had the feeling there was something wrong. I have asked everyone if they had heard from you.
Rest assured that we are here for you and that our prayers are going out for your Mother and this affliction that has affected her.
We all love you and wish we could be there in person for you, but we are here, just a short distance away by way of the computer should you need us.
I’ll send you my phone number and if you ever need a shoulder or just someone to talk to, feel free to call me.

  13. Stephanie, ongoing prayers for your Mom as she fights this, and for you as you provide her your loving care and support.

A very long time ago, my grandmother was diagnosed with this (at that time) very mysterious horrible thing. I am heartened by the major improvements and successful treatments available today. May your Mom benefit immediately from these treatments, and may God guide her physicians in all they do for her, Amen.

Please know that when you need loving care and support, it is here for you 24/7. Your family here loves you!

I am SO SORRY to hear about your mom’s diagnosis!! Your family is definitely in my prayers.

I know how tough it is to deal with parental health issues (as I’ve been doing since spring) and Parkinson’s is a particularly tough one. Don’t be shy about leaning on friends for support.

  31. Unfortunately. I’ve had a similar situation. My Mother also suffered thru a chronic ailment…and I served as her caregiver. Massive strides are being made–on almost a daily basis–concerning Parkinson’s. I hope your Mom reaps the benefits of those gains.

  32. Stephanie, I’m so sorry to hear about your mom, but glad that you are able to look after her. My mom had cancer three years ago, so I know how difficult it is to deal with a frightening diagnosis. Your whole family will be in my prayers as you learn to deal with your mom’s new needs.

  33. You have friends and angels all over the world, Stephanie….prayers and good thoughts are being sent out even as you are reading these messages.

    *blog hug*

  34. Stephanie–
You do a fantastic job! I was saddend to learn of you Mom’s illness. My prayers and thoughts will be with you and your family.
Please know we are thinking about you.

  35. Stephanie, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your mom. My grandmother had Parkinson’s and lived well into her 80’s. One of my uncles also has it now. The med’s should be much better now than when my grandmother was living with Parkinson’s back in the early 1990’s. So far my father now 77 or none of my siblings have shown any signs of Parkinson’s.

    Keep hope and prayer always.

  36. I will keep you and your mom in my prayers everyday. Love Grandma.

  37. Stephanie, My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your Mother….and since I so believe in angels I’m including a little invisible one in this email to be there with her. You are such a valuable part of this blog – thanks. jo

  38. Stephanie -

May God be with you and your Mom in this time of being tested. I know that with God’s help, you will be up to the challenge.

  44. Hi Stephanie,
So sorry to hear that you and your family are going through such a difficult time.
I had looked forward to meeting you on the July 13 but you were off then for a personal matter. I wanted to thank you for all your help and the wonderful job you have been doing to help John keep this blog so active and current.
I hope you got my message back then by email.
    Good luck and stay strong!

  45. Thank you Stephanie for your dedication to both John’s blog and your mother. I will keep you and your mom in my thoughts and prayers.

    God Bless!

    Cindy :)

  46. Stephanie,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your mother. I lost my dad to Alzheimer’s and it really is heartbreaking. But, there are moments when it is okay… Your mother will be shown tenderness and care and will realize anew the beautiful young women you are and will appreciate you all the more. Do take care of yourself in the busyness of life. There is only one you and like Kuki said – please don’t be afraid to ask for help or to vent for a bit.

    Take care,

    Owen & Shannon

  47. Stephanie,

We are thinking of you and your Mom. Thanks for all the hard work you put into the blog.

  49. Stephanie,

My thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time. I lost my Grandfather to Parkinson’s many years ago. Here’s hoping research speeds along a cure for her soon. What stunning strength you must have to take care of her and still devote so much of yourself to us and the blogs.

We’ll try and keep the bugging down to a minimum!

    With great respect,

    Laura

  50. Dear Stephanie,

Thoughts and prayers are with you and your Mom as she battles this illness. God give you the strength to get through this.

Thank you for all you do.

  51. Hi Everyone,

I’m truly touched by all the thoughtful comments. It means a great deal to me and my family to hear your words of support. Thank you so much :)

On a side note, I noticed that there is some confusion over the “Stephanie’s”. There is a Stephanie that is onboard and serves as an assistant cruise director. I am not that Stephanie :) I work in our corp. offices in Miami.

    Thanks again,
    Stephanie L.

  52. Stephanie,
