Hi John & Heidi & ‘lil Thingy!
Congrats and many blessings to all of you! Since we won’t have the pleasure of you as our CD on the Freedom next week – do you happen to know who is? We have loved reading your blog about Italy, Turkey & Greece and it’s been so informative! This will be our first Carnival cruise to Europe (13 total cruises with Carnival, 16 on other cruise lines) and we can’t wait! We will be celebrating my husband’s 56th and also our 31st anniversary! We sail on 10/24 – just 10 days away!!!!!! Yippee!!!

My husband and I were so happy to hear you will be cruise director for the Liberty in 2009 for the Baltic and Grand Med cruises! We took the Baltic cruise in late August and had such a great time! We are very much thinking of the Grand Med cruise for 9/2009 but I have a question for you about the itinery. We noticed that the cruise begins and ends in Rome so in order to see Rome, we would have to come a day or so early or stay a day or 2 after the cruise. Taking Carnival’s “same day as your flight arrives or departs” tour is not possible for us due to our very long flight to Rome and back. I looked into coming to Rome early or staying later, but hotel, food, transportation and tours for the 2 of us is quite expensive. With things going on the way they are with the US economy and stock market, this added expense would put a cruise out of our budget. But to come all that way and not properly see Rome is a sin (no pun intended)! Do you think Carnival would consider some sort of itinery adjustment to include an overnight stay in Rome like you do with the Greece and Turkey cruise?? I’m sure most of your guests would love to spend more time in Rome without the added expense of coming early or staying late. Many people such as my husband, may not be able to take that much time away from work also which is another concern we have. Let us know what you think of our idea. Take care!

HI John…have been away from the computer and just now getting caught up and I am so sad when I read that you won’t be on the Oct 17 sailing on the Splendor. Like the other couple, we too were anxious to meet up with you and Heidi. Bummer….Will they still have a friends of John meeting so we call all talk about you? I just heard that Winston’s Cigar Bar on the Valor is now called Winston’s Bar and is a smoke-free bar.

Is this true?

Are there other smoke-free bars on the Valor?

John – Please reply – I might have missed something, but you said you were going to get back to us about the Jehovah’s Witness and her prayer meeting. I’m glad you were there to handle things since this lady was so naive as to think the world should be only as she thinks. But, at issue is whether or not some efforts should be made for religious services on cruises that go over a weekend, for those of us who are part of a community of worshippers and do not want to miss that.

Also, have you been thinking about the Panama Canal cruise, as a passenger???

Mary and I are so happy for you and Hiedi and your “Thingy.” God’s richest blessings to you two – or is it three now?

Thank you for the aplolgie about the Fez as for I myself dont know why they use the Fez . I will look in to it and try to give you a answer if you like . I have always enjoyed you blug and one day look forward to meeting you and your lovely wife and Thingy. I am planing a cruise in the near future can you tell me about any you will be on in the next Year or so.
