It’s been awhile since I did one of these, so here’ a poem for you.

John and Heidi (last name Heald)
Lived upon a ship that sailed
Far and wide across the seas,
‘Til John gave in to Heidi’s pleas.

“I want to be a Mum,” she said.
“You promised on the day we wed
That when the time was right I’d get
To stay ashore and that you’d let

Me languish, with a dog beside
Me, as I take it all in stride:
The tummy growing round and tight,
Strange cravings, ‘specially late at night,

Throwing up and swelling up
And when the tears come welling up,
You said that you would understand
And be right there to hold my hand.”

John, who is an honorable man,
Of course said, “Darling, yes you can
Stay in our country cottage where
You’ll very happily prepare

A cozy nest to welcome home
A ‘Thingy,’ and we’ll never roam
Again across the bounding main
As we’ll be tied down with ball and chain.”

And then John yelled, “That hurt a lot!
Why’d you hit me with that pot?
You know I’m only joshing you!
I’m truly tickled through and through

To know that in a few months time
Our lives will really be sublime.
The ‘Thingy,’ be it girl or boy
Will fill us both with love and joy.

So don’t you fret my darling wife,
I’ll welcome in this sweet new life.
And whether ‘Thingy’s’ he or she
I hope it doesn’t look like me!”

Now Heidi’s going to stay at home
While John keeps sailing on his own.
But soon, I guess, he too ‘ll repair
To the country cottage oh so fair.

And let us hope John won’t forget
To keep us posted and to let
Us share the fun of him as Dad.
(Should never make your bloggers mad!)

We wish God’s blessings on you two
And the newest member of your crew.
You’ll be great parents, of that we’re sure
Thanks to all you’ve had to endure,

Dealing with guests who leave their brains
At home in Texas, New York or Maine
Or wherever they hale from to sail with you
And make your life a bit of a zoo.

Soon you’ll be able to set the pace
As you settle into your comfy place.
And we’ll all be waiting for each new blog
With news of you both, ‘Thingy’ and dog.

Very good news hearing the medical Staff did save a life again.
I sometimes spent fathers day in Miami/Beach. Filling my Hotel fridge I was offered a flower/Rose more than one time. I did never accept my words: I do not know beeing a father, but am not paying for any children until now.
Congratulations to both of you again, but keeping your Thingy at home until beeing 26 John you are retired at that time!!??
You could use briefs instead of boxers again (Old blog readers do know).

I can’t believe it – I’ve finally finished catching up on the past 2 weeks. I’ve got loads of comments, but first, congratulations on the New Carnival Projects thingy position. It couldn’t happen to a better person. Lenny gave me a heads-up on this one, but not the details. As a loyal and original member of the 3 million bloggers, I will miss having you as a CD but know you will always be there for us. And it was great seeing you in the past-guest reception film. It was like you were a part of my cruise too.

Once again I am amazed by the people you have had on your cruises – the selfishness, the stupidity, the rudeness.

Maybe I just don’t see it, but I’ve never seen anything this bad on any of the Caribbean cruises I’ve taken. which reminds me – There were a whole bunch of Mrs. Knee-Hi’s on the Miracle. One day as I was passing the card room, there was a group of 4 playing mah jongg. Later on I asked one of the men who was “guarding” the table if the set they were using was from the ship. He said no, they brought their own and offered to teach me.

Thank you so much for the Baltic blog and all of the magnificent photos from this past season. Since I am one of those who will probably not fly over there to experience it first-hand, I really appreciate it.

That Western Buffet sounded much better than the Mexican deck party.

I know I’ve said this before, but Carnival is the best. It was my first choice 21 years ago, and I haven’t changed my mind since then. The people, the ships, the value, the entertainment, the fun – nothing else has to be said.

Heidi, take care of yourself and enjoy this time. But keep in touch with the blog thingy please. Your mum must be thrilled. Do you think John will have sympathy morning sickness, etc.?

I saw a mention that your blogger’s cruise was doing something with Habitat in New Orleans? My hubby and I are cruising a month after you on the Fantasy and wanted to do the same thing. Any word on how to go about that?
