There is one, and only one tour to take of the Vatican – that tour is the Exclusive Tour of the Vatican.

The tour is expensive, but worth every lira you pay. After a morning touring Rome with your own guide (we had four on the tour), you are taken to the Vatican where you are met by a guide who has worked for the Vatican since the time of Pope Leo X (1513-1521), or at least it seems that way.

Your guide will take you places in the Vatican that the general tours do not go – visit the Pope’s garage and see the popemobiles. Visit the gold collection. Stand in less famous chapels.
