It's sad to think there will be no more original ships like the QE2. The QM@ does come close but to be honest she falls abit short when compared to the QE2. I'll certainly miss that unique profile and what remained of her original interior design.
Thank you for posting,

Jaime was going to post it in the library but I was so busy with the kids, I never had a chance to stop by and read it! It was a great cruise! I came back with a cold however so I will write more later. Still trying to unpack and do laundry--and Heidi is nesting as everyone has said. You will get through this phase too..LOL The weather is about the same in Essex as it is in Atlanta today so it makes me miss the cruise all the more.

Just got back from the Splendor and have so many wonderful things to report but I will do that when I have a chance to catch up on the blog. I remember when our daughter Nikki was "nesting". She would have me take her to Wal Mart to buy material. Then she would come home and make clothes for her Barbie doll collection which she planned to give her daughter when she was older. She was very creative, but those late night trips were a little unnerving.
Great pictures of the QE 2. I enjoyed looking at them.

Lauderdale, saw the QM2, and of cause we were there coming back off the Splendor, the Miracle was there too, and I met someone from the Ruby Princess on our bus, and she says they actually charge $4.00 for an ice cream cone, and if the adults want to use the adults ONLY pool it is $20 per day! Imagine! Linda

Yes, there were 8 ships in port today in Ft. It was in the drydock that it was built in back in the 1840s. Unbelievable right? As you relate it was hauling coal in the Falklands, and ended up leaking and beached. Some Brits got together, bought the salvage, put it on a raft and towed it back to its birthplace. When we were there it was still fairly rough, although I recall a large dining room just below the main deck. It was a combination sailing ship and steam ship as I recall, and the first with an iron hull and a screw type propellor. The other thing that stuck in my mind was you could stand on the deck and look over and see into a glass blowing factory. There were men just like in Morano with the long pipes the furnaces, and the glowing glass blobs on the end that they were inflating and shaping.I think now you can walk down into the drydock and see the hull of the ship up close, as well as tour the interior of the ship.Go walk up the gangway of this historic ship while you have some free time!Question for you, what is the difference between a cruise ship and an ocean liner? Does Cunard operate both?

Hi John:

John, Please reply.

Thanks for the photos and information on the QE2.

About 12 years ago we were in Bristol and saw the SS Great Britain.
