I hate to say this, but I must agree. I didn’t care for the new Carnival commercials. In fact, some in my family questioned it and said what did it have to do with cruising. Also, someone said, I hate commercials that you can’t figure out what they are advertising for, and then at the end they said what does that have to do with cruising?

I have always thought you should have a duel commercial. Two families on vacation. One on land, one on a cruise ship, and show how much it cost for a regular vacation, and then tell how much Carnival is more fun less money!

Today, price drives everything. Hopfully, future commericals will show value for money – in short, how inexpensive a cruise really is; and how one can have fun while on a budget!

I have to say I’m another one who thought the commercial could be confusing. It does make me smile, but I already know the background.

Many thanks to Butch for the “Christmas on board” blogs. I hope he is cruise director on Glory next May for my daughter’s wedding cruise. We’ve cruised with Butch before, and I know he would make it a special time.

Please tell Butch that snow and sub-zero temperatures for Christmas is just a habit that he CAN break! I, for one, am willing to give it a try.

I love Carnival. I love cruising. My friends think I’m nuts I so much love everything Carnival. But the new ad – well, it’s Awful with a capital “A.” I wish I could say otherwise. For anyone who doesn’t read this blog and know the story of the filming it’s even worse. I surveyed some family over the holidays and not one of them felt even slightly moved to book a Carnival cruise after that – most weren’t even sure what you were advertising! Please, please please – I beg of you – find another ad campaign. I actually wonder if this will decrease bookings (and I’m a stockholder so we REALLY don’t want that to happen!)

I really enjoyed today’s post. I, like your mum, love playing games…and just happened to have a couple of grandkids here this weekend to rope into a few rounds of “Catch Phrase.” Not exactly a board game; more of a cross between password and hot-potato. Scott and I beat the kids in every game…but it was close!

Although we will not be on BC2 I’m sorry to hear Alan will not be, either, as I know all the bloggers were really looking forward to meeting him. Alan’s health is, of course, much the more important thing.

Seems the commercials are pretty much a flop. Should Carnival Corporation look to do new ones sometime soon, I highly suggest whatever company does the commercials for Target stores. I find them very creative, visually and aurally pleasing, filled with reasons to shop at Target and finally, extremely recognizable…I know what’s being advertised, even in a new one, as soon as it begins. They are my favorite ever commercials. I’m sure they could do something equally impressive for Carnival. Obviously, they are doing a good job for Target as they seem to have had the contract for several years now, using generally the same motif. Just a thought. I’ve even tried to find out who does these commercials to see whether they may have garnered an “Addy” or two, but haven’t been able to get that information.

Sorry to hear Alan won’t be able to make the Carnival Fantasy Blogger’s Cruise out of New Orleans. I know how you were looking forward to making it the cruise from Hell for him!

I’m trying to wait patiently for more details about the cruise, but am failing. Hurry, John, Hurry!
