We really enjoyed the time as it was our first ever travel and cruise experience. We got that bug and not a good old fashioned Canadian Cold but the kind that never goes away . We had so much fun on the cruise that we had to start planning for our next one . It took us two years from then to save for and get to take another cruise. We went on the liberty once more and saw the most beautiful places ever , we had so much fun and enjoyed our planned vacation that we are ruined for staying home . We said to each other we would have to save for the next 3 years to get the opprotunity to get to take our next cruise and as soon as we came back we started to save. But with the recient cold , early winter and the lack of summer and beach weather we certainly wish we were nursing our Canadian colds on board a fine carnival vessel .
We live in Prince Edward Island Canada one of the best Summer vacation desinations in the world . Our beaches are lovely , with the warmest waters you can find in the north . Next time you come to Canada try out our island and I think maybe a few of those Carnival ships actually come to out Island .
Ever since you started your blog we use it to keep our savings on track , you know keeping our eyes on the prize . reading and hearing about all the thngs taking place on board , and the fun people have makes it almost bearable here in our long winter months .
Carnival to us is a home away from home , a place where we feel welcome. if only we could win the million , we would travel carnival all the time. For now we are saving for the next one and hoping to get to the Panama in January of 2011. I sure hope we have more of a summer this year cause if not winter in Canada will seem like an eternity.
Thanks for making us feel connected to carnival your info makes us want to keep on saving .

We did not know this untill we were on the ship and reading the daily anouncement sheet. The way i look at it, i pay just as much for my 15 year old son as i do my 21 year old daughter. My children are on vacation, and i dont think the cruise line shoul put a "bed time" on them. They enjoy late night snacks and early morning strols, and as we all know there is nothing more magical then a ship at night all light up in her glory. Please tell me as Carnival grows, they will not decide to do this. We enjoyed the Western Caribbean on board the Carnival Valor for seven days. It was our first trip together (outside of work) in 20 years that we were together (married for 14 years). We enjoyed it so much that we are booked again for April 2009 on the Freedom. We cannot say enough praise about our staff (Maede, Gilbert, Noor, etc.). The cruise director, Chris, was a terrific person. These people work so very hard to ensure that everyone has a positive experience. Sure, there are some things that you wished had gone a little differently, but one cannot dwell on that. After reading about the role of the Cruise Director, I don't know when Chris got to sleep because he interacted constantly with the guests, while our carnival capers and other requirements were on time.Carnival should be exremely proud of its staff and the abilities that they have. From the entertainment to the short excursions, everything was fantastic.Oh yeah, if anyone is intereted in the Cozumel, Mexico, the dolphin trainer for a day was one of the best experiences that my husband and I will ever have. We were treated like royality at Dolphinarius.John, please pass along these comments to Carnival. I think they are doing a terrific job.

Hi John:

After reading through these blogs for the first time, I thought that I was only fitting to add good comments on the cruise that myself and my husband enjoyed last year. My DH and I just returned off of the Valor and found the disembarking process very frustrating! We waited almost 3hrs before our # was called (it happened on the Miracle too!) because of all the people who carried off 3-7 (yep!) bags of luggage. They were rolling the bags over others feet; others were hitting fellow passengers as they struggled to move all their bags; and yet others were holding up the lines because they could only move a few pieces at a time! Those of us who were watching this debacle were angry because we knew it would take us a lot longer to get off the ship. I don't mind if a person is in a hurry due to an early airline flight (carnival does let them go first!) but why so many bags allowed to hold up the whole process? Can't carnival change their policy somewhat and atleast 'limit' the amount of carry-off bags? (Carry on all they want but only a couple of large ones and a shoulder bag...? per person) I just would like to get off the ship without being so frustrated with those people who don't seem to mind holding everyone else up! Thank you and happy new year to you and Heidi!

Dear John,<br

We've been on 6 Carnival ships, and the Spirit was the best - great layout, very accessible, great staff, best food.Best non-Caribbean port - for the Americas, it would have to be Ketchican. What a fun town, right off the dock, great shopping, the lumberjack show, fun things to do.Otherwise, it would be Istanbul. Great shopping, friendly people, and as we departed at night, the bay was the most beautiful, unforgettable sight I have seen.Best Desert - Chocolate Melting Cake, of course!!!Our best to Heidi and the Thingy - and you!

John – I can’t remember all the questions you asked, but I do want to weigh in on a few.

Best Ship – would be the Spirit.
