Of course you just have to smile and explain to them that we really don't do that sort of thing and move on, hoping somewhere right now there isn't a real emergency going on that your needed at. I live right on the main throughfare the ambulances take to get to the hospital so we hear them all the time and I often wonder how there can possibly be so many emergencies! Funny story, I passed out and whacked my head one time, my wife, of course, made me call the nurses "advice" line. So here I am with a terrible headache and this woman wants to call me a wailing ambulance to come collect me and take me to the emergency room. She was being very rude and insistant about it too! I finally told her that I would be happy to come down and let them take a peek at my mellon, but if she sent an ambulance they would come to an empty house! Let's see, headaches and sirens...hmmmm... Darwin was wrong, we appear to be devolving! And yes, I did have my wife take me down to the ER and no, as I told her on the phone, there was nothing wrong with me, they just had my BP medicine dosage wrong! Love your take on local news…ain’t it the truth!!! And as for those “911 goofballs” these folks get to vote! Can you believe it? Explains a lot about the recent election…gimmee, gimmee.

Looked up your movie question and discovered the answer is “Arthur” starring the inimitable Dudley Moore, although several others beat me to it. Did you see in the “news” today that some scientists have worked out the solution for the ending of “The Italian Job” (1969? version) with Michael Caine? The guys escape WITH the gold!

Unfortunately, Paramedics do not get the same respect that police and firefighters do. They take a lot of abuse on the job. My husband has been hit by cars, pepper sprayed, chased by dogs and had his front teeth knocked out all while on the job. It is very seldom that he ever gets a thank you and it is rare for people to speak out, as you have, with the realization that they are mistreated and taken for granted in many ways.
