First, my friend Diana is able to come with me on the Blogger's cruise next week, so I won't have to go all alone! Hurray! (My husband had to cancel due to unforeseen family obligations.) It will be Diana's first cruise, and we will both be celebrating our birthdays. Booking the airline tickets was harder than getting an bill passed through congress, but I eventually managed to get something acceptable. Wouldn't you think that changing the name on one ticket would be a two minute no-brainer? Alas, not to the airlines. Grrr. Luckily, that's all done, and now we can focus on looking forward to the cruise! ARE WE THERE YET?
I wanted to add my 2 cents about Bingo. I agree with the others who said it's gotten WAY too expensive. $20 for 3 cards and 1 game of bingo? or maybe 2? I like the idea of playing for prizes instead of cash sometimes. And why do they always have to have it right before the show? I pay the money and play only because I'm a captive audience. I get to the show early to get a good seat, and I'm bored. When I was on the Freedom in October, the girl from the cruise staff running the "win a cruise" bingo may a serious omission. She forgot the speech explaining what happens if more than one person bingos. When 2 people yelled bingo at the same time, she brought them up on stage to draw a ball, with the high ball winning. The audience got angry and started booing. It was almost ugly! People were complaining about it for the rest of the cruise! You see, there were a lot of 1st time cruisers on that ship. I spent the rest of the week explaining to people, but they didn't want to hear it.Can't wait til the Bloggers Cruise,

FYI: Our Wii thingy gives us opportunities for this! To help balance it out, we go on our annual Carnival vacation. (All 3 kids are anxious to join mom & dad as Platinum status. Only 2 more to go for them to get there...)Here is my question: I know the Miracle is going into drydock before our March 29th cruise. Is there any chance it's getting the Mongolian Grill during this time? We've never sailed the Spirit class before, and this immediately became one of our favorite features as soon as we encountered it!I second the request for a video of the BC v.2 Bedtime Story! You were our CD for our first 2 cruises (honeymoon on Ecstasy in '93 and Sensation in '94), and the Bedtime Stories still stand out as highlight events. I guess that means you're at least partially responsible for our addiction to Carnival cruising! :)Missing the BC, but looking forward to the Miracle 2 months from today.Rick H.

John:

PLEASE REPLY if you get a chance.

As the father of three (including twins), I can’t imagine how much work it would be to raise eight children all the same age!

I understand your thoughts about trying to find family time on a daily basis. isPermaLink="false">http://johnhealdsblog.com/?p=7809#comment-30232

hello John , well we had a real nice ice storm here and that leads to another problem parents have - kids and snow storm days - most people have to work - even when the school is cancelled . So many children are home having a snow day - making as much mess , lying around watching tv , and in most cases calling their parents every hour or so , because an older brother or sister has changed the channel or ate the last cookie - or was in their room. I would say storm days are a parents worst nightmare - the anticipation of the big storm coming has many parents thinking could it please happen so we all have to stay home - not just the kids , cause if the weather is good enough we still have to go to work , find a sister , or get our children to daycare on half good roads . Its no wonder parents are stressed out .
I myself am likely to answer the phone at work to a few calls about the remote control and the computer use. That is after the teenagers pry themselves out of their beds. Well as for 8 all the same age and that many diapers - I think those parents are hoping that pampers want them those kids for sponsors . I cannot even begin to imagine- just think all of those babies - getting to age 16 wanting to take drivers ed , and get their licences , and the insurance cost - hope they live in a town with a bus service.
I am sure they will make for interesting magazine articles in the next 10 years .
Well John you never know what the future will bring maybe after this ist child you will have a few more , cause having just one would really be boring . Who will Thingy have to argue with and fight over toys, and tv remotes . They all need someone to tattle on and keep secrets with - By the way are you an only child?
