1st – regarding the CD, I never much paid attention to the cruise director on my previous 6 Carnival Cruises. Yes they were funny, but that’s about all I noticed. Then, in 2007, after booking the Freedom, I discovered your blog and had you as our Cruise Director and now, I’m spoiled. I think a CD makes a difference if you have cruised many times and I do feel they set the tone for the ship’s crew. Case in point is Kirk, he is a blast and is very engaging with the guests. He is the first CD, after you, that makes a point to get out there and meet the guests. He was great!! I was on the Valor in 2008, and don’t remember who the CD was, it didn’t ruin my cruise, I loved the Valor, but I had a better time, with you and Kirk as the CD.

Question: Please reply if you can. We are looking at booking our 2010 cruise. My parents really wanted to cruise and spend a week on the Beach in Florida, but neither can walk the beach anymore due to the sand and their not so sure footing. So we are thinking about doing a B2B on either the Freedom or the Dream. I know which ever one I choose, you will probably be the CD on the other and my parents really want to see you again. So any idea, which ship you may be on? I will probably book after I return from the TA Dream and I’m so excited that Pam (Pam from Texas) and I will have a chance to visit with you again. Hopefully by the end of the year, when I’m ready to book, you will know which ship you will be on….if any???

Please Respond, I just found out that for my Birthday this year, my brother and his wife are taking me on the Carnival Paradise for a 4 day cruise to Mexico, so I am really excited. I was wondering if you could tell me who the CD is going to be for the Carnival Paradise in October. The only one I know is Jeff Bronson and he was fantastic on the Carnival Pride. Also since there will be four of us on this cruise, could I ask a favor about getting the 4 of us our own table. The reason that I ask is this is the first time in 11 years that I have seen my brother and sister-in-law and I would like to spend some special time with them, and my niece, at dinnertime. Thank you in advance and give a hug to Kye from one of her American aunties.

John, I’ve got a question for you that I’ve been getting a variety of different answers on! We’d like to go B2B next year on the Spirit, Seattle to Vancouver and Vancouver to Hawaii. Some people says that this violates the Jones Act, and some don’t. It’s a new run for the Spirit since it currently starts it’s Alaska runs in Vancouver.

Can you please ask Carnival’s legal eagles to give us a ruling on this?

the bacon and ham “hand out” is due to two reasons:

1. There was a vast amount of waste going on and with the price of pork……the cost of the waste made it necessary to take this step.

2. The second reason was that because people were getting “hoggish” (pun intended)….the bacon and ham was hard to keep replenished in a timely fashion resulting in limp bacon. Now everyone gets bacon in a timely fashion and it is fully cooked.

When you got pn the valor last February you said it was a pity I was leaving so soon because you have such a plentiful supply of “Irish Jokes”…. the Irish Jokes I can take, but claiming two of our most famous sons for Brits?! Now that’s a bit much. Especially Richard Harris who has a statue of himself crown and all as Richard III in my home city of Limerick. My Grandmother swears he was a ruffian as a youth and was always chasing her. Then again my grandmother says that about Frank Mc Court, Terry Wogan and generally anyone famous from Limerick. As for Peter O Toole, I’m sure we can organise a trade as long as you promise to take Bono and Michael Flatley off our hands… The country has had enough of their silly hair and questionable taste in Sunglasses and leather Jackets.
