Please Respond John :

Hi John ... My Name is Shawn ... I & My best mate are sailing on the Carnival Splendor on the 10/18/09 sailing to the Mexican Riveria our booking number is ******.

My dear Mate will have his 31st birthday on that Monday the 19th of Oct. You asked me to get back to you when it was around cruise time... Well I would just like to remind you we will miss not having you aboard the Splendor with us, but if you can help me out by sending best wishes on a card or something a lil sorta along that line it would be wonderful to see in his face.

Seeing he gets me all the time... we have traveled before with Carnival on board the Triumph in 1997 & on the Holiday. So this will be our thrid time sailing together. Anything from you would certainly be kinda to send ... I think this is his 13 trip abord a Carnival Ship

Thanks,
Shawn

John -
Your reaction to the dolphin girls was appropriate for the situation. Having taught elementary school for 32 years, there were a few times when I raised my voice to get the attention of students during a frustrating situation. Believe me, it did! You can't do it too often or it loses the effectiveness, but it works. You handled it well, and should be proud of your diplomacy in the face of crazies.

We did the Mediterranian trip last October on the Splendor with a group of friends for our 35th wedding anniversaries. Had a wonderful time - only wished you had been with us. Enjoy the blog - keep up the good work and balance life with your family, too.

Hey John,
I'm brand new to your blog, but not to cruising or to CCL.

So here's my question, and I really hope you'll answer because I get conflicting info...

Last year I FINALLY convinced my 2 best friends of 35 years to join me on the Elation for 5 days in Mexico. We had a blast, but it was the first time I'd cruised where there was no gala buffet (which of course I chatted up for years and years).

Now we're heading out on the Splendor in Sept to celebrate one of our big 7-0...this is a 7 night trip. Will I finally get to share the brilliance of the gala buffet with them? (you see I got them hooked now...better late than never!)

Please don't say it's a thing of the past (unless it is), the ice carvings and creativity of fruit is delightful and I sooooo want to share this with my bffs.

Thanks John. Now I'll go back and read and read and read your blog. Very entertaining AND informative.

Cruise on!

John-
Thank you so much for arranging for us to sit at Ryan's table. The girls and I had a wonderful trip on the Carnival Legend. The wine and "ship on a stick" were a great surprise and the twins were thrilled to get them. Thank you again! I know I have 3 daughters hooked on cruising now, they have started to plan next summer's trip and are very upset they can't join me on the Glory next month.
I had not used Camp Carnival before this trip and was very impressed with the facility and the activities. The twins are 7 and enjoyed everything they did. My oldest daughter is just a month shy of turning 15, she did try the Circle C once but was older than the others and decided to hang out with me instead. We both enjoyed Claude at the piano bar and the Jamacian group at the pool. Our cabin service was great as always and Ryan and Venera offered fun and fantastic service at dinner each night.
We loved Jen (CD) and her "princess" wave. Is the magician at dinner a new feature? He was amazing. I believe his name is Ram. We enjoyed our own private magic show several nights at dinner.
We do wish the stay in Roatan Island was longer, that was our favorite stop. Also is there a better way to do the photographs. I feel very wasteful when tossing the ones with closed eyes or silly faces. Maybe some way to view them and pick what is printed. The only issue I saw that needed attention was all the flies in the lounge where the kid's talent show was. They were very pesky. Thank you again for all you do and the entertaining blog. We did leave a note for you and Jen both on the ship but I didn't know how long it would take to catch up with you.

We love cruising on the Carnival Line, This December will be our 7th cruise. My question is what type of entertainment will be on the Miracle sailing out of Ft. Lauderdale on the 14th of December.
We love jazz and we are hoping that we will not be disappointed, I have heard that they are discontinuing jazz on the ships.
Thank you for any information you can provide us.

Hello John!
Hugs and love to your BEAUTIFUL daughter; what a treasure! I'm sure you can't wait to go home to your ladies...
As to raising your voice to the two "ladies"... remember, their behavior was impacting everyone else's experience after the show. You were certainly within bounds to call a quick end to that ordeal. I'm sure your reputation a our star cruise director was not diminished. Guess some people should not be allowed to cruise without a test for good manners. Meantime, finish packing and counting the seconds until you are home..
Hope to share a cuppa tea or the like before you exit Carnival Dream... [for my birthday cruise :-)]
My best to all...

Dear John,
Today's blog seemed to have some sad undertones. I'm not the best judge of people, especially when I all have is the written word to go by, but you really do need to take a little break, my friend. Get off the ship and take in a little sunshine and fresh air, if only for an hour or two - it will do wonders for your mind and spirit.

Regarding the tie dye wearing divas, I think you handled the situation better than most people would. Don't beat yourself up for getting angry. It's part of being human. I think an attack like that would make anyone shout. Even Jesus got angry and shouted, you know.

Kye is absolutely beautiful! I understand Heidi's amazement at how quickly her little baby is growing. Just yesterday, it seems, I was bringing my own little 5-pound bundle home from the hospital. Today, she's in preschool. (Warning - That first day of school is a tough one on both parents!) Tomorrow, she'll be graduating college.

As far as "Do I look fat in this?" questions, I have already agreed not to ask such loaded questions of my hubby. In exchange, he agrees not to ask how much said garment costs. It's a win-win. ;-)

Hi John (Please Reply)

I hope you are having a good weekend despite the tropical weather. Nanni is soooo disappointed that the storms kept you away from her.
I have a question. I have a friend that loves to cruise CCL, and on the last cruise she was on there was a band named Blood Brothers. She would like very much to cruise with them again. Is it possible for you to find which ship they are on, so she can book that ship? Thanks in advance.
I sure hope to cruise with you as CD again soon. It looks like we have Karl with a K on the Carnival Victory in 13 days. I saw him as an asst CD and he was super, so I am sure he will be a fabulous CD.
Give my best to Heidi and Kye. I know you are glad to be returning to your 2 beautiful ladies soon.

Hugs to all
