Hey John,

I have been a subscriber to your blog thingy now for a couple months. I find it very entertaining as well as informative. I am cruising on the Dream on Dec 3 with 16 of my closest friends, some of whom have never been on a cruise before. We felt, why not start with the biggest Carnival ship there is? I have a question for you and hope you can fulfill my request. I notice on the Jumbotron TV screen on Lido deck that they ocassionally play music videos of various types. I have a particular music video that I have recently come across that is awesome. In fact, it is performed by a young lady from the UK...Becky Taylor. It is entitled "You Raise Me Up" and has some beautiful scenes that were shot in the making of the video, plus she has a lovely voice. I found it on a search on YouTube. I am not sure how Carnival decides what videos to play on the Jumbotron but do you think it is possible for them to play that particular one for me and my friends? I feel, without them, I would not have been on this upcoming cruise and wanted to show them that they do indeed "Raise Me Up" in life and help keep me going in these somewhat troubled times we have right now. If you are able to accomplish this, please let me know what time and date on my cruise this would be broadcast so that I may have everyone in my party on Lido deck to see it. I appreciate all you do for everyone on the ships that you are a CD on and on here with your blog. Thanks again.

Sorry to say that I wasn't able to see the stream about Mrs. Harden. I guess because I'm a Canadian it was only allowed to be seen in the United States. What gives? Isn't our money any good for Carnival? I'm very disappointed.

Will you be on the Dream March 6th 2010?

We are wanting to book a cruise on the Dream, but want to make sure you are on it.

John, Please reply:
Just returned from Carnival Triumph cruise from Charleston to Bahamas. As always a great trip, this time made even more special because our wait team (Georgi & Yanthi) and wine steward I Ketut were looking for me as Sandra and I had been with them on the Carnival Triumph out of NYC to New England and Canada earlier this year. What fun to be enthusiastically welcomed back (as you say, “Welcome home”)! And Jorge made my first time cruising friend Judy feel as special as if she were the new Carnival godmother. Dario had also been gracious enough to arrange a primo table for us so that she could see all the dining fun and Jogi kept us all entertained and well taken care of. Finally a special salute (and a heads up to you guys!) for entertainment team member Sophia. She reminds me of Jamie a few years back; great personality and totally guest centered.

Now, John, two questions. First, I’m delighted that Charleston is now becoming a homeport, but PLEASE tell me that the terminal is scheduled for renovations and expansion! It became such a bottleneck and backed up the entire boarding process because it is just too small. Secondly, Sandra and I are headed back out in February on the Carnival Victory but the cruise director schedule only goes through December, 2009. When will at least the first half of 2010 be posted?
(And as always, we hope to cruise with you in 2011 on the Carnival Magic to the Greek Isles!!) Linda

Dear John - Please Respond,

First, thank you for being a pioneer for exemplary customer service. Your kindness amazes me! And thanks to the 343 Stephanies for helping out along the way.

I wouldn't have emailed this request before the recent exhange with the poo poo guy about your willingness to make special requests a reality. Now however, I'm giving it a shot. I'm also willing to give you a treat in return though.

I'm sailing on my second ever cruise, the Carnival Liberty, departing Miami on January 29th, 2010. The Carnival Legend hooked us on cruising and Carnival a couple of years ago. My request is this. I would really love to have a table for two close to a window. Our underpants are of the XXL and XXXL variety so a larger table would be amazing as well...but that's pushing it, I know! Any assistance or advice you could give would be much appreciated. That cabin may be upgraded to a Suite in the next month though!

Your treat you ask? I'd be glad to force feed a frenchman a fine English ripper and would joyfully, accidentally, push a Mr. or Mrs. Moaner off a tender or port of your choice. I'd still like the fruit basket for that though.

Thanks again for all the help you give us. While I've just been enjoying your blog for the past couple of months, it's now a website I enjoy checking daily.

Regards,

Danny

John or Stephanie (Please Reply) Help! My family of four is cruising on the Carnival Freedom on 11/21, and previously John was kind enough to answer some questions for me. Several weeks ago, we noticed that our daughter's first name had been misspelled on our online cruise documents by the Carnival PVP who had taken our booking, which included airfare through the Fly Aweigh program; we called Carnival's toll-free number to correct it and thought all was well. Last week, when trying to print out the cruise documents, we discovered that we had been assessed a $150 administrative fee by the airline for changing the spelling of her name from "Briged" to "Brigid," and could not view or print out the documents until we paid it, so we reluctantly did. That amount seems like highway robbery to correct a spelling error on an e-ticket, considering that the cost of the round-trip ticket was under $400! I will complain to the airline, but I do not think that we will get any redress, since the reservation was made by a third party. In this age of heightened security, I don't know whether it would have been prudent to just leave the documents with the misspelled name. Perhaps Carnival has more clout with the airline than we do. Is there anything that you or Carnival can do to help us recoup this fee, particularly since the original error was that of a Carnival agent? We would be grateful for any assistance. I know John has been very busy with the Carnival Dream activities, but I hope he can help!

I was sitting here blogging, not knowing ANYTHING about the Today Show appearance. I looked up when I heard a familiar voice, and it caught me quite by surprise.

JOHN HEALD himself reading BEDTIME STORY LIKE out of the worlds largest childrens book.

Yes, you had to blink, but there were two separate appearances. The Godmother got most of the spotlight.
