We are sailing with you on February 13, 2010 on the Dream.
My 18 yr old son has always wanted be a cruise director. He has very outgoing, can do magic and dance like MJ and is works a crowd very well...
What courses should he be taking in college??? Hotel management?? communications??? Liberal Arts???
Any suggestions would be appreiciated.

Feel so lucky to have found your blog. Your comments reflect your wonderful personality, and I'm sure the admiration of those who post here. I found the Carnival recipe for the delicious cinnamon pumpkin yam cheddar pot pie, which I recently enjoyed on my cruise with the Carnival Spirit. The recipe is portioned for a large crowd, 100 servings. Is there any way you could as one of the chefs to post the recipe on this site for 6-8 people? It would be great for a dinner party. Keep up the good work, and please pass my compliments along to the cheff on the Carnival Spirit, Mr. V.
Thanks again,
Mary

John,

I've been trying for over a week to log onto CarnivalConnections.com. Is the site still down for scheduled maintenance or am I having a problem on my end? Thanks

Technology has made our lives easier and in many ways more connected to each other. On the other hand, it is very difficult to unplug and connect with each other one on one and face to face. It takes discipline to unplug and focus on the here and now.

John,

Yes, we would love to see a facebook page for each CD. What a great idea! As for the top 3 things we look for in a great CD they are:

1. A great personality with fresh, funny stories.

2. Mingle with the guests and show that you really enjoy meeting them.

3. Be well organized and make sure there is something for everyone to do.

Maybe you have heard this one before but I thought you might enjoy it:)

A crowded Virgin flight was cancelled after Virgin's 767s had been withdrawn from service. A single attendant was rebooking a long line of inconvenienced travellers. Suddenly an angry passenger pushed his way to the desk. He slapped his ticket down on the counter and said, 'I HAVE to be on this flight and it HAS to be FIRST CLASS'.

The attendant replied, 'I'm sorry, sir. I'll be happy to try to help you, but I've got to help these people first, and I'm sure we'll be able to work something out.'

The passenger was unimpressed. He asked loudly, so that the passengers behind him could hear, 'DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO I AM?'

Without hesitating, the attendant smiled and grabbed her public address microphone: 'May I have your attention please, may I have your attention please,' she began - her voice heard clearly throughout the terminal. 'We have a passenger here at Desk 14 WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHO HE IS. If anyone can help him find his identity, please come to Desk 14.'

With the folks behind him in line laughing hysterically, the man glared at the Virgin attendant, gritted his teeth and said, 'F... You!'

Without flinching, she smiled and said, (I love this) 'I'm sorry, sir, but you'll have to get in line for that too.'

Hello John great blog as usual.
I use the face book thingy but I think it would be better for the CD's to do a blog every so often here on Worldpress.
As for what a CD should be is, visible around the ship and original and honest, like you, you have set the standard.

I don't know if every Carnival ship has a Owner Suite, but they are nice, but out of our price range. But I'm sure someone would like it.

I don't know if I missed my post or not. But I emailed you about our cruise on Carnival Valor my husband and I did. Here is a link to the post http://www.kudos2fly.com/2009/09/20/carnival-valor-sept-6th-13th-2009/

Hope you enjoy...
