isPermaLink="false">http://johnhealdsblog.com/?p=13600#comment-46601

hi John (please reply)I have been following your blog for a few days now, and going back and reading up. I am enjoying it immensely. It reminds me of my last cruise and helps me look forward to my next cruise.
My hubby and I have booked on the Carnival Liberty for the May 14 sailing. We are heading to the Eastern Carribean. Our last Cruise was on the Glory in 2007 where we had Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Jimmy as our cruise director. He was hilarious. That was our "honeymoon cruise" and here we are 3 years later going on another. My parents went with us last time, but sadly they have both just passed away. My mother had wanted to do the eastern Carribean cruise, but every time she started planning, something would happen and dad would end up in the hospital.
Eventually she gave up trying, and cancer took her this past January. Dad being the gentleman he was, went first to prepare a spot. We truely believe that he didn't think he could live without her so he simply gave in.
So hubby and I are going to live their dream for them. We are taking along our daughter, who will be almost 23 months when we sail, and his brother ( to look after the daughter so we can have fun!!) I would like to know what there is for Children that small. She is quite independant but have been advised by our booking agent that under 2 years are not allowed in Camp Carnival. Also, how safe is the ship for a toddler? We have a balcony room, should we be worried about her getting on the balcony?? We wish we could get a suite, as she is a bit terrified of the shower, we are not sure how to get her clean while onboard, and suites have tubs.Anyways, rambling over, what is there for small children to do on board when they can't attend camp carnival? I have booked the butterfly experience while we are in St Thomas, but other than that I dont see much.Please let me know what you suggest!Maurene

hi John (please reply)

I have been following your blog for a few days now, and going back and reading up. My last cruise was just after the pig flu scare. So there was an announcement made during the muster drill by Butch, our CD, that there would be "no skin-to-skin" contact between the crew and the passengers.Instead, he suggested we "bump it out." Yes, it was a 70s disco hip move. Made for a very interesting captain's party when everyone got to meet the captain and senior staff, yet couldn't shake their hands. ;-)Laura

Oh! I am so sorry that it's taken me a while to catch up on your blog. And I am even more sorry that you missed Mother's Day and feel so bad about it. I wish I could offer a solution, but what's done is done.You have asked forgiveness from the women who matter in your life, and they have forgiven you. Beyond that, there is nothing more you can do unless you can turn into Superman, fly around the Earth super fast, and change its rotation to turn back time. (I never did understand how that worked, though!)When the U.S. Mother's Day comes around (I think it's May 9th?) make sure you send cards and flowers and an abundance of praise to your mum and Heidi. I know it's not the same, but it might make you feel a little bit better.So cheer up! There are much worse things in this world to worry about...like the Carnival casino conspiracy to drug guests and take their money. ;-)Good luck and God bless,

The past two cruises were on the Glory - which we enjoyed very much. Last year was my first time trying out karaoke and I had a blast. Regarding The Legends show, you listed the celebrity list, but I noticed that Ricky Martin was not listed. I was going to try to get up the nerve to try out for 'Livin' Lavida Loca.' I have even been practicing that song since last year lol. I think I sound fairly decent. I was wondering if the Ricky Martin part has been dropped since it was missing from your list. As a side note, I think it would be cool to add a KISS character to the show if and when Carnival decides to update it. Although Paul Stanley's is my favorite KISS character, Gene would be cool too. I don't know if I could walk in 7" platform boots with sea legs, but I would certainly give it a shot.Very much looking forward to my cruise in May. Hope to hear back from you.Best regards,Paul...

John,

My wife and I are sailing on the Carnival Dream on May 15, 2010. Here in New Zealand Mother's Day is not until the 2nd Sunday in May, so become an honorary New Zealander and acknowledge your lovely Mother and Heidi then!!!! Last weekend we had our 14th annual Opera in our garden and the weather was kind once again. We had a wonderful 3 hours of beautiful music, lovely picnic hampers and champers and over 800 people having a fantastic time!!
I do enjoy reading your blog each morning, and can concentrate on that more now that our big concert is over again.
Cheers,
Joan

Hello John,<br

Sadly, you're not the first guy to forget Mother's Day and you won't be the last. I know that does little to nothing to make you feel better about it but such is life. Foo.$23,957.85 on a penny machine? Wow... I wonder if she would like to adopt a slightly mature child. What a lucky woman!!!Regarding the 'man hug' thing. I happen to recall running into a great friend on our Carnival Dream who, despite being worn and tired, gave me a big hug. If I remember right, that was you.Time to forgive yourself for your transgression and smile!All the best to the Stephanies, Heidi and the lovely Kye!!Ciao!Host Mach

Well, nuts, John. This is James and Cynthia from "Haines City" Florida. Sorry it has taken so long to write but we cannot let it go any further without saying you made our cruise Feb 20, 2010 on the Dream a wonderful time. We have shown friends and family our "Welcome Aboard" DVD where James had to profess his love for me and everyone has gotten a big kick out of it. Your sense of humor made that cruise sooo enjoyable - it was our 14th cruise, but will remain our very favorite one of all. We hope to have you as our Cruise Director on future cruises. Until we meet again, God Bless.

Hi John,<br
