Good morning everyone from a very dark Cabo san Lucas. It’s dark outside because it’s only 6:10am and here I sit in my underpants ready to start answering 30 questions. As I mentioned yesterday I need to try and get a head a little bit because I am letting too many people down as their comments slip by the day of their cruise.

Hello everyone. I don’t have the time to write a full blog today because of more meetings with the beards and a full crew safety drill for our upcoming Coastguard inspection on November 7th. However, I didn’t want to leave you with nothing so I popped into the galley with our Entertainment Technical Manager Alex “Dracula Iacebot” and we filmed the birth of a Legend. Hope you enjoy it and I will be back with a full blog tomorrow plus regular Facebook thingies as well.

I sometimes feel that during my time here on the Carnival Splendor that I have been somewhat cruel to the folks who sail with us who live in the state of California. Certainly they have provided me with a never ending dollop of material for our blog thingy and if I do appear to be suggesting that they are ummmm…..different…..well I apologize to any Californian readers who I may have upset. But the truth of the matter is……..that from what I have seen these past three months …………some of you are………..umm…..…..different.

Not that long ago we used to have something onboard called Video Diary. This was a concession owned by a man called Scmoolig who put chaps onboard to film what the guests did. They did so using cameras the size of aircraft carriers and at the end of the cruise hundreds…….yes, hundreds …… would buy a copy. I used to go ashore with them and film the ports of call and excursions etc.

Later this morning I have a meeting with the staff and the youth staff about Halloween. As you know, Carnival puts a lot of effort into this with each ship celebrating (if that’s the right word) Halloween two or three times. Here on the Carnival Splendor we will be doing so next week on Friday 29th and again of course on the 31st. We have decorations and scary spiders and enough candy to ensure every kid who sails will have a chance to spray vomit across the Promenade Deck.

I cannot imagine how anyone is properly famous doesn’t go stark raving bonkers. I bet that with all their fame money and Latvian bottoms ask George Clooney, LeBron James or Madonna if they could have anything for Christmas their heart desired they would ask for anonymity. The ability to walk into a restaurant without being pointed at. The comfort blanket of being able to make a phone call safe in the knowledge that nobody else is listening because nobody else gives a bugger what you have to say.

Swings and soundabouts……..that’s what life is like on a cruise ship. Yesterday we had a comment from a guest of the Islamic faith about having the service dogs in the dining room and now the pendulum swings the other way……….as you will see now.
