Hi-
Thanks for keepin’ it real , John. You look great and rested. Watch out for the tofu…it will give you some badass gas that will blow a hole in your underpants
Will you be meeting Marlo Thomas at St Jude’s? You could check off “celebrity” and “uber-philanthropist” in one shot!
Have a joyful trip.
Annette
Thanks for the video blog today…. We will be on the Triumph Jan 15…. cruise # 13 all on Carnival. Looking forward to the changes for Platinum. I would also like to comment that we were on the Conquest in September and that was the first time that debarkation for Platinum members had ever went smoothly for us… Great Job Everyone….
John, we live in a suburb of Memphis and were very excited when we learned of Carnival’s support for St Jude. Thanks to Carnival for all they do for St Jude and thanks for making this trip here to visit. It will definitely touch your heart to visit the hospital and see those precious children……they’re so brave.
John,
You look great in the video, the camera didn’t add any pounds at all!! Have a lovely time at St Jude’s hospital. I know it will be difficult as you have a small child at home but just think of all the good that Carnival has done for the hospital. Safe travels and thanks for the continued updates!

NO FAIR teasing us about the BC4 and then not even telling us when we will find out! LOL
If you get a chance…drop a bug in the ear of the beards about the Weight Watchers cruise possibility!
A Weight Watchers cruise on CARNIVAL???

Happy Holidays John.
I just want you to know I’am so proud of you on how you handled the accident on the Carnival Splendor and how you made sure everyone through out the entire ship up to date on the status of the ship and what was going on up in the Bridge and what the Captian was doing. Thank God everything and everyone was ok and the ship made it to port and the passangers made it off the ship and the ship was ok and is repairable. But I want to tell you that you kept the sanity of the ship with your announcements on the PA System. I Love Carnival Cruise Lines.
God Bless You John.
Naomi.
Yes John thank you for keeping our spirits up me and my daughters would have been lost without all your annoucements. We are booked on the first cruise going out in Jan/2011 as you said we also have some unfinished business. The staff and everyone that was there to help us thank you so much, We are so looking forward to this time we will get to spend together. We know this time it will be great.
G’day John,
An Australian reader here – I picked up your blog after hearing about the Splendor in the news, even way down here your incredible story telling ability had me hooked from the first sentence. I read every word right through the whole 5 or so days of blogs about the fire, the trip home, and what you did. The photos were also wonderful. I’m an (land based) engineer myself, and it was an amazing read – well done. Friends I’ve forwarded your blog to have also been glued and thought the blog was brilliant.
I’ve been on a few cruises in Australia and it was just like being there again. From your new friends down under, well done! Kevin
Good Morning, John!
I hope you have a marvelous day! And I’ll be seeing you in 88 days on the BC4!
Thanks John for the update and the tease! Some say you look tired, some say you look rested? How can that be? I think you look great! Just take care of you and thanks again for being our spokesperson to the beards and our ear to relay accurate news back to us.
Enjoy your time at St. Jude’s – children have a way of enlightening our minds and entertaining our souls!
Dear John,
Oooooo! I can’t wait to hear all the exciting news! Can you give us a hint? Pretty please?
Anyway, thanks for keeping us posted and keep up the good work. Also, you look great! I can see that you’re still losing weight.
Congrats!
Laura
Yes John,I’m with LadyJag on this…Pretty please? One little hint?? We won’t tell anyone else…it’ll just be our little secret!!
You still ROCK!
Brenda, again
Hey John, interesting timing! I was driving home from work the earlier this week or late last week (the days seem to melt together!) and was fortune enough to catch an interview on the radio with Marlo Thomas. She talked about her dad and how St. Jude’s started and a lot of interesting stories about what kind of man her dad was in his private life. I envy your trip to St. Jude’s, wish I could go with you. The interview was hysterically funny at times and made you just want to break down and cry like a baby at times. I am so impressed that Carnival is involved with this wonderful organization. The first time I was aware of Carnival’s more caring side was on our first cruise aboard the Carnival Spirit when they announced that the crew had “adopted” an orphanage in Mexico and was collecting money for necessities for the kids. Needless to say I found the Purser’s desk (or whatever we are calling it now) and emptied my pockets (got rid of all those pesos I got as change!) and of course since I had no idea of the exchange rate, threw some US dollars in for good measure. Keep up the great work! And remember everyone, while out there getting the best value for your vacation dollar, Carnival is saving you money that can certainly be put to good use for charities! Yes, I know, shameless plug!
Mike
Hi, Mr. John!
My daddy reads your blog all the time and told my mommy about it, so she is helping me to type you this. I am 6 years old and am going on my 3rd cruise in a few more days (a 4 day cruise 12/9/2010 on the Carnival Elation out of Mobile, Alabama). Then, on March 12th 2010 I get to go on another cruise (a 7 day cruise on the Carnival Triumph out of New Orleans, LA). By then I will be 7 and it will be my 4th cruise! I love cruising and all the fun stuff I can do like Camp Carnival! My favorite thing to eat on the cruise is Shrimp Cocktail! I also really, really like hot dogs, but I don’t eat pork. Every time I am in the dining room I try to order a hotdog, but mom reminds me I have to ask first to see what kind of hot dogs they cook. Every time the waiter comes back and tells me they are pork. I know it is probably too late for my December cruise, but is there any way I can get chicken, turkey, or beef hotdogs on the March cruise? It’s okay if not! I like the chicken nuggets, but I really love hot dogs! They are my favorite! I like broccoli and cheese, too! Thank you a whole bunch!
Love,
Adrian
yo johnny
how about the New C. D. Schedule ?
so we can plan our next 10 or so Cruise”s
the Stalkers
John,
We cruised with you on the Freedom in July, 2009 (I think that was the year!). Ive been on a mere total of 5 Carnival cruises and each one has been fantastic! But I am convinced that having you as our CD made that cruise #1 on my list…by far! Keep doing what youre doing, and I’ll keep trying to book my next cruise based around your schedule.
I cant imagine the passengers on the Splendor being in better hands with you on board (and of course the wonderful captain and crew).
I hope St Jude was a heartwarming experience…. I love that you have such a loving heart and carnival does as well.
But please forget the tofu and ask a local for the best bbq ribs place…..and get ready for a delicious mess. Getting it all over you just says you enjoy it!
John, you are the absolute class of the cruising world. No need to thank us, we thank YOU for your dedication to us and to the industry we love.
Hi John- You are definitely our hero & never forget it. Very few of us could have stood the pressure like you did.
Anxiously awaiting your blogs from St. Jude.

John, You are the Best! I have only been on one cruise with Carnival and thanks to you and the blog thingy I feel like a Platinum cruiser already. Jeff and the crew on our Paradise cruise are probably really the responsible ones, but reading your blog has made me realize that Carnival really is one big, fun family and I am really excited about going again soon. We’re doing the Disneyland thing next year for grandson”s 5th birthday, but I think in 2012 were back on Carnival for sure, just need to decide which ship! Thank YOU, thank you, thank you!
John,
I hope I can get some help. I heard of this invitation only Dinner with the Chef. Since this is a trip with my wife and I only I would love to make sure that we get that invitation. Is there any secrets you can give to me, to get an invitation. My Wife has said she really wants it, and since I have been married 18 years, I know that getting her what she wants makes my life so much easier.
I appreciate the help.
