Today, on the Carnival Magic, John experienced one of the proudest moments of his career when he was given the chance to interview three esteemed members of the Carnival family. These men are truly an integral part of Carnival’s heritage, as well as the foundation of our company. I hope you enjoy this brilliant interview, and as always, we WYWH.

Thank you so much for posting this. I really enjoyed the interview and seeing the two fabulous Captains that you and I worked with on the Fantasy and Ecstasy. I’m sure they were overwhelmed to see how big the ships have gotten compared to the Mardi Gras and the next generation, which the ships were at that time in the early 1990′s.
What a great interview
! It’s nice to see some of the “elder’s” being honored.
I’m really enjoying all of your Carnival Magic post’s and look forward to seeing you (and Heidi and Kye, I hope!) next fall.
This was just wonderful to see, it brought tears to my eyes! Thanks, John, for honoring these mens’ years at sea.
Impressive! As a Navy Veteran and now a veteran of 3 cruises on carnival in the past year, the old saying holds true – “YOU CAN TAKE THE SAILOR OUT OF THE SEA BUT YOU CAN’T TAKE THE SEA OF THE SAILOR”! It get’s in your blood and stays. The Sea Becomes your second home. And on a Cruise Ship, while traveling to various ports, you live in a community where race, creed, color, religion, and POLITICAL problems remain ashore, and a truly Carnival Atmosphere of Fun develops. And this comes from the crew of the cruise ships, that maintain an attitude that is overwhelming positive. I have never met or dealt with a Carnival Crew ship crew member of employee I didn’t like. Thanks to all!
John, This was priceless !!!!!
What a great legacy and taking time to showcase the deep rooted talents Carnival has. It would be great to list the ships those gentlemen were on- as I was thinking as I watched: I wonder if I was ever on their ship when they were.
Thanks for the interview. Always love the video interviews. Maybe once she sails you can give us video tours to showplace the ship.
John have you learned any Italian since working with Carnival? Other than the naughty words :-0
Dear John:
I particularly enjoyed this particular interview with the retired captains. Sometimes we tend to forget the history behind Carnival when new and innovative things are thrown at us. The 3 gentlemen you interviewd are truly pioneers and I bet they have a lot of stories to share. Perhaps you could do more such interviews and share with us anectodes and experiences which I’m sure would be quite entertaining.
Thanks for doing what you do and see you on the Magic.

Wonderful interview. These men truly are the ancestry of the modern day Carnival experience.
Gracias to all of these men.
And thank you to John for bringing us this wonderful interview.
PS – loved the phone throw. I feel like doing it all the time.

John, As someone who worked for CCL when Captains Gavino and Sartori and Chief Eng. Cosulich were all sailing, thank you SO much for that fantastic interview. They all look great and it’s wonderful that Carnival still appreciates all they did for the company. Any chance a photo was taken of the whole group of retired Captains and Chief Engineers which you could publish? Unfortunately my source for those photos is no longer with us but still dearly missed. Best wishes!
