Remembering Mike Hernacki

August 1, 2011 -

John Heald

On a very sad note I have to tell you of the passing of one of the very first Blog readers I have ever had. His name was Mike Hernacki and if you go back to the first blogs where I replied to readers you will see the Hernacki name there. Mike was an avid cruiser and a huge Carnival Cruise Lines fan. Always laughing, always smiling and always wearing his favourite funnel hat, on which he proudly displayed his ship pins.

By his side was his beloved wife Linda who he is grieving at her loss. So today I ask that we pause for thought and remember Mike Hernacki who will be laid to rest today.

Here is Mike as I will always remember him

Mike will be missed by us all. I’m sure every time John sees a burnt out light bulb on a Carnival ship he will think of Mike offering to change them.

All of the Evil Crew will feel his loss. We all loved his funnel hat.

  29. Mary Lou and I will miss that jovial face as he walks the ships with his Funnel hat. We only spent one cruise with Mike and his lovely wife Linda but you know, it was as if we had cruised many times. Joking and smiling was Mike’s main idea. Rest in Peace Mike. Enjoy cruising in the clouds of Heaven and do the joke that you did to me while on our cruise. God will get a laugh but he’ll have to get that pencil mark off like I had to.

    Paul

  33. CruzinMan says:

Hello John haven’t been to your blog in a while now, caught the news about Mike on FB.

I never had the opportunity to actually talk with Mike.
Even cruised along side the man on several cruises
But I knew who he was and recognized him by the now famous hat lined with Carnival ship pins.

I’ll always remember Mike by telling you a true story .

While standing in line boarding one year we had just reached the scanners where you scan your carry on luggage, Mike was around the fourth person behind me.

Security took one look at Mike and looked at the other Security guards and made this comment.

” Heads Up fellows , here comes one that fixing to take off ” , yes Mike was wearing his famous Carnival Hat.
I always smile when I think of that day !

I’ll truly miss the man and his smile and that infamous hat ;->

Our thoughts are with the family.
