Well that was the week that was and today I start a new week of blogging and Facebooking. Those last few days were tough as everyone said exactly how they felt as non-smokers and smokers took up arms to wage war against the other and I couldn’t help but think…….was I to blame? The Cloud 9 Spa here on your Carnival Magic has some very interesting treatment options for our guests, including acupuncture which I truly believe helped my Bells Palsy back in 2009, along with teeth whitening and various massage therapies, etc. It’s no wonder that the booking columns are busy each and every day and no wonder our Spa Manager Mia has a smile as wide as my underpants. Well here we go again, another week on your Carnival Magic and we have three days left of this 12-day cruise. I haven’t been sleeping well, don’t know why but it doesn’t matter because I am alive and well and so are you. I say this because this time last week we were all supposed to be dead and Henry O and his mates would be standing at the Pearly Gates being welcomed into heaven while me and a few of you would be in hell surrounded by fire and brimstone and nonstop Celine Dion music for eternity. We have a stag party onboard the Carnival Magic this week………..but it’s not like you would imagine a normal stag party to be. There are 14 men all here to celebrate the forthcoming marriage of Simon Garthwaite who on June 11 will be marrying Gillian in Sioux City, Iowa.

Please not that approx 30 Asian guests form the ________ group were seen this morning at breakfast making sandwiches and putting food in plastic containers. I tried to explain that they should not be doing this but they continued to do it saying “no English” and they all left with extra food. They took Danish, bread, cheese, ham and lots of boiled eggs. I will monitor tomorrow. Thank you and kind regards.
I mentioned in a blog a few days ago that Europe, especially Italy and Spain, are full of fake goods. There are signs above market stalls that brilliantly advertise “original fakes” and sell Rolex watches that look like the real thing. There are Chanel purses and Dolce and Gabbana underpants and there are also bootleg copies of movies on DVD. These are made by some Nigerian man who sits in the movie theatre pointing a camera at the screen making a movie of the movie. How these people don’t get caught is amazing and surely the answer is that Mr. Ubagooba has slipped Manuel the Barcelona movie theatre manager a few Euros. Anyway, I am dead against these things and advise guests from purchasing these items. For one thing, it’s illegal and supports more serious organised crime and I have seen those warnings at the start of movies that threaten that an FBI SWAT team will burst through your window if you dare watch one. I also don’t buy these movies because the quality is crap and just as you get to a good bit some guy stands up to go pee and walks in front of Mr Ubagooba’s camera.
I told myself that I wouldn’t write about the 600 Russians here on the ship. “Don’t do it you fat bastard,” I said out loud but to no avail. This is a one-off cruise. Yes we will have Russians sailing again but never this high a count and I doubt never this entertaining.
There is so much going on here on the Carnival Magic but as far as the guests are concerned …….the Russians are dominating. Here are two incidents that show I just can’t ignore them. (more…)
So the Royal Wedding is over and Mrs. Middleton, who has obviously been panning that her daughter should marry a prince since Kate was just a fetus, has her wish. Billions of people watched on TV and a few here on the Carnival Magic’s Seaside Theatre big screen in-between getting the ship ready for service. The wedding cost huge sums of money and yet even though Mr and Mrs. Public had helped pay for it through their taxes, hundreds of thousands lined the streets 10 deep to catch a glimpse of Prince William’s hereditary bald patch and Princess Kate’s dress.
They stood there for hours holding their bladders and waving their little flags as the pomp and circumstance played before their eyes and nobody……..I mean nobody likes…….pomp and circumstance like us Brits. (more…)

Last night Heidi and I watched a movie. It was probably the wrong movie to watch before bedtime but I had spent 7 straight hours at the computer Facebooking, blogging and paper working so a movie seemed the right medicine to take my mind of everything. The movie we chose was 127 Hours. It was an OK movie I guess but sitting there I felt a little bit weird waiting for the film’s one interesting scene where the ridiculously good looking climber hacks off his arm with a Swiss Army penknife. It was a bit like watching Basic Instinct only for the bit where Sharon Stone crosses her legs revealing for a nanosecond the sight of her lady garden.
